Disney Infinity 3.0: Gold Edition is the near-definitive game of the Disney Infinity series. It's my personal favorite game of all time (I wish I were joking because saying that out loud sounds ridiculous), albeit extremely flawed when compared to the console port. The biggest draw to Gold Edition is having all toy functionality built in to the game itself, no toys required. This is a massive game changer which saves a ton of money for those who just want to relive the game or try it out. All playsets, all characters, all hex discs and circle discs are at your disposal. From Mickey Mouse in a dungeon crawler to Joy in a 3D platformer to Anakin Skywalker in an open world, everything is ready for you. While the value of the content included is high, there is quite a few unfortunate drawbacks that hold it back from being the best version of the game. Biggest one right out of the way: no multiplayer. No online, no split screen, nothing. Since the servers have been shut down and there's no way to access the content from when they were online, toybox sharing is gone, too. Lastly, and this is what truly stings: most of the post-launch content is not in this version. Outside of The Force Awakens, you do not have any other post-game characters or playsets. You get no Finding Dory and Marvel Battlegrounds, you miss out on Baloo, Alice, and a bunch of other Disney and Marvel characters. What would have been a slam dunk of a game is held back. Overall though, this is still a great way to play Infinity with most content included. You can still do most of the things in the game, even if those few things above aren't accessible. There is a small yet strong modding community working to restore most of the missing content, though functionality of some characters and aspects vary. If you're going to mod the game, go for Breeze mod in the Continuum Mod Manager. I suggest you experience all Disney Infinity 3.0 Gold Edition has to offer because this is one of those hidden gems that is enhanced without the toys.

9/10 Disney Infinity 3.0 Gold Edition is the pinnacle of Disney Infinity games. 3.0 allows you to play as characters from 2.0 and 1.0, not only that but since this is the Gold Edition, you don't need the irl Character Base and figures to play the characters and power-ups in-game. Something worth noting is that the stories from 2.0 and 1.0 are exclusive to their individual games, therefore there is some reason to get those games too. If you care about the pre-built stories with their own open worlds and missions then I'd recommend getting the bundle with all 3 games, but if you care more about the characters and the building your own world aspect then just stick to this one. Also the online features no longer work, they haven't been enabled for years.

Remember Disney Infinity, the toys-to-life game featuring characters from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars? Its customizable "Toy Box" universe was initially slated for expansion, but the series was cancelled in 2016 following Avalanche Software's closure. However, PC "Gold Editions" were later released, containing all characters and content. This means bypassing the expensive figures and playsets and experiencing the complete game for a single purchase price. While not flawless, Disney Infinity's PC Gold Editions are a highly recommended nostalgic trip.
