Duck Game is my go-to game. But I'm not being objective here: I love ducks. Joking aside, there's a lot to say: - First, you play ducks and you can quack. Need I say more? - How intuitive the controls are. “Easy to learn, hard to master”: you'll have fun mastering all the tips and tricks to “beat the hell out of each other” thanks to the tutorial mode. - Lots of over-the-top, funny weapons. - The music! A literal jewel. Brownie points: a level filled with music instruments. As a musician myself, I can only quack in delight. - The customization: there's sooo many hats to unlock. Like the Supā Saiya-Jin hat. All in all: Duck Game is THE multiplayer game to own if you wish to have a good time sparring with your friends (and insulting each other, too).
What is Duck Game? Duck Game is a fast paced local multiplayer/online multiplayer/singleplayer game about ducks with guns. Allowing up to 8 players, you can play with any amount, skill level (to an extent), age, gender, job of players, and yet everyone will have fun; the game is easy to pick up, but there is alot of space for mastering everything that the game has to offer. At face value, it is really simple. You move and jump around, pick up a gun, quack (yes, there is a dedicated quack button), and shoot. That's pretty much it. Oh, also, everything kills with one hit. What makes Duck Game so great? Before you even download any mods from the workshop, the game offers an irresponsible amount of weapons, maps and hats. Each weapon is unique, and you simply have to learn every one of them to get the most advantage out of them, and to also know what you are up against. Everyone starts the round with no weapons, and you have to pick them up from the ground. spawners or Super Mario-style boxes, with the weaker guns being closer to spawns and the stronger ones being placed in the middle, letting you choose between rushing towards the stronger weapons with the rest of the ducks or to try and catch them while they're trying to get there. The rounds can be fast, like, really fast, we're talking under 5 seconds here, usually around 30. That combined with the one-shot action makes everyone feel included, as the player's that might not win as much as the others get back into the game really quickly, adding replayability for all skill groups of players in a game. Skill ceiling? Very high. But the skill floor is very low, also. While I might easily be the best player out of my friend group by having 200 hours played, I still won't stand a chance in online lobbies. The singleplayer gamemode, where you complete small challenges and get rewarded with a medal of a kind based on your time/score, teaches you alot of the core and more gimmicky features of the game, and gives you the chance of training specific game mechanics. User generated content? Yeah, the workshop is filled with fun mods, hats, maps, and all sorts of things. Feel like the game is starting to replay itself? Install a mod that adds new weapons and maps, and once that starts to feel like its replaying itself, just uninstall them and enjoy the base game again. Also, it's really easy to play online with mods; if you're trying to join a lobby that has mods that you don't, the game handles that for you, downloading all of the mods from the workshop, then relaunching the game and reconnecting to the server. The game also offers a full map editor, which I've spent alot of time messing around in, and recommend for everyone else to give a shot too! It's also possible to create your own hats, and there are plenty of tutorials out there. Conclusion Duck Game is still the best couch game out there, wether it'd be a couch for two, or a couch for eight, everyone on that couch is guaranteed to have fun in a way or another. It's worth the price, every cent of it. Quack.
