A fairly simple and very enjoyable game of running, jumping, dragging and trying to figure out how to escape bad guys. The game saves at regular checkpoints and most of the puzzles are intuitive. The dark environment hides some things you need to interact with but not a huge issue. Thumbs up!
The art direction is really good in this game and I enjoyed the mechanic of swapping between the real and spirit realms. While the gameplay could use a little tweaking, it was never game breaking for me and it's forgivable since it is an indie game. I love seeing whatever passionate works small devs manage to bring into this world!
I just beat 'Eternal Hope' and for the most part I did like the game. It reminds me of something like 'Hoa' as what both of these titles do that is similar is it gives you really good visuals while everything else it does isn't exactly extraordinary. The story here is kind of whatever, it's here and while it's not necessarily bad it's not great either. It's a predictable tale about a guy named Ti'bi who loses his girlfriend and a demon can bring her back only if he fulfils a request for him. It's just something that's already been told without building on top of anything. The visuals are the best thing about 'Eternal Hope,' it's vibrant and pops out at you while still keeping the dark tones of these shadow demons present. It just has a really nice contrast in tone. I do think though that making items in the foreground black both interactable and non-interactable however can make certain parts confusing as you will not see certain objects being blocked off. The gameplay, well. What can I say? It mostly works. Like I said above trying to solve some puzzles that should be easygoing can turn into a "What the h**l am I doing?" into a "Oh you're kidding me, right?" moment because sometimes you just can't see something right in front of you. The game feels kind of sluggish and slow to control, I wish Ti'bi just moved a little bit faster as it would make a pretty big difference. Trying to grab onto ledges itself sometimes doesn't work alongside jump height not being the same also creates infuriating moments. Like I said, it mostly works, but to say it doesn't have issues would be lying, I mostly just wanted faster animations. The game does offer an extremely easy 100% so for people wanting more achievements this is a plus in that direction at the very least as going through the game with the extra 10 collectibles doesn't take too long especially with checkpoints that for the most part are generous. I got the game for $2.5 on sale earlier this year and for that price I am okay with giving the game a recommendation. Because while the game doesn't do anything unique or great, it does present you something visually pleasing, a story that most people will like even if it is predictable and overplayed, and gameplay that is just okay. Do not buy unless it is on a sale, $12 is a bit much for what you are given.
