Playing this somewhat extensively ( in comparison to the majority of the bad reviews who have a grand total of less than 7 hours ) I can safely say- skip the tutorial. Skip the tutorial due to it not being an accurate reflection of the game's combat, you don't keep the items you find from it, all in all it needs work and the island training grounds can help you learn controls just fine. For whatever reason the tutorial they added when the game went F2P has terrible hitreg, bugged audio, horrible stamina consumption (3 swings from an iron sword depletes your entire stamina whereas in ACTUAL Freebooter/Mercenary expeditions 4 swings only depletes 1/4 of your entire stamina pool), and has enemies that are unkillable at the beginning point. The game could be compared more similarly to Tarkov, than Dark and Darker. Yes I know many of you are looking into this because of the other dungeon crawling game, but there is no encroaching darkness- only timed instances lasting ~30 or so minutes so you can take your time, no limited number of portals which only allow a certain number of people to escape, and has equipment rotation which DnD doesn't have yet as of 3/17/23. They've definitely improved the hitreg and some of the rubberbanding since I last played pre F2P and I admire they're trying to be a competitor to Dark and Darker. I greatly enjoy both games, as both have different feelings to me, personally. Your experiences will differ, but I've found there to be more friendly players in this since there's no competition for extractions.
Its good but needs a lot of work. - Normal walking speed is too slow, overall walking and sprinting should be increased slightly. - Attacking in general feels uncomfortable like it happens late after clicking. - Light attacks and heavy attacks take the same amount of time? - Make the AI use stamina as well, they swing forever in a constant flurry and if i swing a few times i deplete my stamina. The AI is cheating in regards to stamina constantly dashing, attack swinging forever etc. - Kicking can feel near pointless the window to attack is so small. - The stats for the armours are really really bad. Swap medium armour values for heavy armour, it makes no sense that the best and slowest armour in the game has no base defence? someone has to rework all the armour values because they are currently very silly and make no sense. I can choose between a slowing heavy armour helmet which gives me bleed defence, or a medium armour helmet which gives me base defence against everything? - Archers kick the air when you block not knowing you are not close enough. - Zombies bug out and sprint into your body forever not attacking sometimes. - The inventory management is very difficult and no easy way to move items back and forth between containers. - For combat overall stamina management is just too much, its like ill walk to someone to attack a few times and now the character needs to stop and have a breath. You die in this game by losing stamina when the AI does not and you cant even block anymore and you slow down when on low stam. It's impossible to do anything about and you cant drink a stam potion. You just die from the AI hugging your body hitting you over and over forever. If you atleast let me block parry on low stam it would be fine. After all that i recommend just in hopes of what the game turns into.
