More fun than I expected, but it kinda feels like it's still in early access and really needs a lot of updates. The meta-progression is really lacking and there being only 4 weapon types makes things really repetitive. I do think the game is worth getting on sale, but it's not worth full price at its current state.

The first 8 or so hours I spent in this game perfecting the combat and weapons choice. Unlocking all the passive bonuses I could and learning the rhythm of the enemies all in the endless mode. I did this as soon as I unlocked the endless mode. And then I made my run. I played it all to perfection, getting relentless conditioning and weapon damage, entering every rift and fighting it to the end. I had played it all as a video game. On my final run I got perilously low on health in the second to last level. Was this it? Would I have to start over? I had been doing so, so well. Then I entered the final level. Below half health and wondering if each fight would be my last. Lulled into trance by the mournful music. In my growing doubt about my chances, I kept finding just enough to get through bit by bit. That was when I stopped. I began to look around at the world that had been created. All the little signs of thought and detail in the final level as I reached it's end. I lingered on the cliffs before the final battle, dreading what unnamed monster was ahead. I remembered where I had been, what I had fought and I admired what was around me. And in my admiration of the place, the music, the level itself, all the monsters and terrible foes I had fought. I stopped seeing this as merely a video game and found it to be a piece of art.

Think Vampire Survivors meets Elder Scrolls, kind of. Basically, you are dungeon crawling for loot and fighting monsters, but the loot provides bonuses to practical skills and elements. Combat is not challenging at all - swing, parry button if a spell or sword is going to hit you, dash away if you're getting swarmed. Weapons are divided into 4 main types with pretty straightforward differences. you "level up" and pick a boon, and always each map you get three crystals with one choice that upgrades a skill for that run. I honestly didn't think it would be engaging enough for me, and it might not be the most deep game, but its fun in a coffee break snack time way. I'll try to beat the game and get back on how much time it will take, but at this moment I have no intention to refund, this is a good game worth supporting as far as I can tell.

My upvote comes mostly because of the fact that this game was developed by two brothers. And a passion project of two brothers is something I will gladly support. The game is basically a roguelike with Elder Scrolls combat. You'll clear "stages" and after each one you'll get boons with random upgrades. These can also drop randomly from enemies you kill. As with every roguelike, you'll have to pray for rng and that by the time harder enemies appear, you'll be able to statcheck them. If the price of this game was double as high, I'd probably have some issues. But at 10 bucks I can see fans of the genre getting their fair share of fun here. There's two major things that I do think need to be worked on. 1. The "stages" feels somewhat empty. After killing all enemies, there's really no point looking around much before proceeding to the next stage. If that is what you wanted, then so be it, but if you let me roam free after killing everything, it kinda fuels expectation that there might be something to discover (except the few gold pouches you might have missed). When you find out that that isn't the case, that's kind of an odd feeling. Maybe put in some lore, some small easter eggs or just other stuff to interact with, so that it feels less empty. It doesn't have to be anything grand, just something people can play around with. 2. Weapons need feedback. Take for instance the Axe and the Sword. While they do look different, due to the lack of proper feedback, swinging the sword or swinging the axe feels exactly the same. So rather than using a weapon that I like, I just use the one that offers even the slightest damage increase, because in the end they feel the same (except of course for the active ability) anyways. Adding proper weapon feedback is just a change I feel would make the game vastly more enjoyable. And again, the game is 10 bucks, nobody expect you to go way and beyond in that regard. But some feedback would improve the gameplay loop massively. Anyways, I'm happy seeing two brothers come together to create games. Good for you! So just keep grinding, remember having fun and just enjoy the journey. Best of luck to the both of you.

Pretty good game, especially for it being not expensive at all. Solid singleplayer experience, decent amount of content. Hoping for more content soon and who knows a form of multiplayer/co-op.
