This game could have so easily been mediocre. The mark of death for any indie game is when it feels entirely designed backwards from the mediocre pun in it's title. This could have easily been a dime-a-dozen roguelike with nothing but a satisfying gameplay loop, buried within tropes of other games, banished to the labyrinths of the Steam store page. Fight Knight completely averts this. It feels classically trained, an ideal video game that ticks every box with heart and passion, with every single decision being made to create the ultimate version of itself, instead of trying to be anything else. It's not perfect, but it is a perfect example of what you should strive to do when making a game. In my heart it is one of THE indie games, a gold star example of everything that independent, low-budget to no-budget weirdos can achieve, and come hell or high water I'm gonna keep annoying people to play it until it becomes one for the world.

Please play this game, it is such a unique and charming piece of art and just plain fun to play. Despite the game being all about punching things, there is a great deal of thinking expected of the player. At no point does the game treat you like an idiot, it will require you to think very much about what you are doing, either through combat or in the dungeon crawling which has legitimately difficult navgation puzzles. The requirement of having to flex your brain to complete the game might be a bit off-putting for some people, as a number of other negative reviews have expressed displeasure at the punchy man game requiring actual brainpower to proceed. A game with this much art and love put into it deserves to be seen more, especially with the amount of drama and insane nonsense the developers had been put through, this game deserves so much more respect than it ever received. There is a great video by the channel "Technicals" on Youtube that goes into great detail the kind of things the developers had endured.

the combat in this is incredible. you get to beat the ♥♥♥♥ out of people like Kenshiro and the other half of the gameplay is first person grid dungeon crawler which i loved from sega genesis games like Shining in the Darkness. thankfully... you dont have to draw your own map on grid paper unlike that game LOL
