Before I start my proper review, I MUST warn you all about something who wish to play this game. DO NOT buy this game on Steam. Buy it on PS4, PS5 or Oculus instead. This is because the PC version of Help Wanted is horribly optimised and will lag your entire PC in later levels. Steelwool are notoriously bad at fixing/dealing with bugs, and considering this game is now 6 years old, it won't get those bug fixes it needs. I'd recommend playing this game on PS5 with the 'Full-Time' remaster with the PSVR2 for the best experience, however playing it on Oculus is also better than playing it on Steam. So, for the actual review. This is by far the best FNAF game in the entire series. Compared to every game that has come out before and since this game as of late 2025, Help Wanted is still by far the best FNAF game ever officially made, and was the best possible scenario for the first game without Scott's direct involvement. However there are a few things that bug me about this game which I wish to talk about, and I'll go in order in which they appear. - I know this was a cut feature, but the Showtime button should've been removed if it doesn't do anything, even in the remaster. I have no idea why this was exactly cut, it could've been a cute 100% reward. - I feel like hard mode was under utilised, as Steelwool had the opportunity to revitalise nights from the remakes and possibly make their own nights for them. Also it doesn't help that the Dark Rooms, Parts and Service and Vent Repair hard minigames are just reskins with different colours with the AI slightly higher with only 1 or 2 things added to make them different compared to their normal mode counterparts. It would've been nice if we got entirely new levels for hard mode instead of recolours. - The hand unit announcer guy will not SHUT UP about you having access to DLC content until you enter the DLC hub for the first time. How hard would it have been to just... code it so it only plays one time? I'm an Unreal 4 dev myself, it wouldn't be difficult. - I know for 'lore' reasons Golden Freddy shouldn't be in this game. But... c'mon guys. Include him. You had such potential to make him a proper threat in Night 5 of the FNAF 1 remake. And he's even excluded in FNAF 2, with Night 6 being absent. It would've been so cool to see his big floating head in VR. - The FNAF 2 remake is laughably easy. Whereas FNAF 1 and 3 game modes have some threat, FNAF 2 is so boring in this game. For example, when playing it with controller or in VR, the player can just hold the music box down whilst checking the lights which can be spammed unlike the original FNAF 2, where usage was a thing, making every night so boringly easy. - Speaking of that usage mechanic. I'm not sure if it actually got cut...? Whether it's a bug or a poor recreation of the mechanic, the lights in FNAF 2 will start to spasm out if you use them to much, but you can just... use them too much again to resolve the issue. There is no penalty for spamming the lights. - Withered Foxy feels so out of place when you didn't even in include the Withered animatronics in the base game, and made them be in a separate free DLC night all by themselves. Why??? Just update Night 3, 4 and 5 to include them... you already have three difficulties of AI for the withered's built into the game, so just... add them to their respective nights. - When completing a night on FNAF 2 with controller, the bumper icons on the side of the screen do not disappear. - During the night terror minigames which take place in the FNAF 4 area, the night completion screen will bug out and phase through the level if you hold a door closed and look around. - As cool as the night terror levels are, I would've preferred a full on FNAF 4 remake like we got for 1, 2 and 3. I know they added the nightmares to the DLC, but having that FNAF 4 experience in VR would've been awesome. - And for the weirdest thing of the base game, Nightmare Fredbear's AI behaves differently depending on what port of the game you're playing on, which I've never seen in a game before. He is considerably harder in the steam version as his red eyes do not show up due to a bug, and he is more sensitive to the flashlight in the steam version as well. - The DLC levels are all unlocked by default, whereas in earlier versions they had a regular unlocking system. - This game is subject to the grind syndrome, where you need to grind out every toy for an achievement which feels unnecessary. - The game's choice to retcon every previous game as games in universe is a little odd. Games like Danganronpa V3 for example can get away with meta stuff and retcons because they're the last games in their series, whereas Help Wanted is the start of a new saga of FNAF which hasn't been received as well as the original series. I can't help but feel the choice to retcon it all was a bad omen for things to come. Okay, despite the amount of negative things I've said, this game is still really good and worth your time. This is not only the best FNAF game, but the best VR game period. The VR mode is so well made, and I'd highly recommend playing this game with VR, as it has far less bugs than flat mode, and you definitely gain things from playing in VR mode. I thought collecting the coins and tapes was cool, and the road to the good ending was great. This game looks phenomenal for an Unreal game as well, as the colours on everything are so vibrant, and I wish more realistic games were this colourful. The DLC is by far the best part of this game with the best minigames, and I thought the secret ending was cool, even if it hasn't 'lead' anywhere proper with Vanny 6 years later. ------------------------------------------- I rate games on a scale of 1 to 7, with 1 being terrible and 7 being near perfect, and I rate this game a: 5/7 - Good See my rating scale below: 1/7 - Terrible - Game is unplayable or so offensively awful I cannot finish it. 2/7 - Bad - Game is poorly made, and I have no interest in returning too. 3/7 - Mediocre - Game is either boring or lacks creativity. 4/7 - Flawed - Game has issues holding it back from being enjoyable. 5/7 - Good - Game is a fun time to play and I am happy with it. 6/7 - Amazing - Game is an instant classic and I want to play this again. 7/7 - Near Perfect - Game is one of the best things I have experienced in media.
