One of the best Ghostbusters games since the 2009 release, although it's quite competitive and hackers who often play as the ghost are prominent - hopefully the game will receive better moderation and anti-cheat in the future. And hopefully they also improve the Ghostbusters AI which, as of right now, is really ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ bad.
A great game, and a fantastic Ghostbusters game. Incredible customisation, awesome artstyle, thoroughly entertaining gameplay from both available perspectives, and a banging soundtrack. This is one of those games where you can tell the devs had a great deal of love for the source material, and made this game with a ton of detail. Very fun multiplayer, but also exceptional singleplayer, with surprisingly competent AI for both the ghost and the busters alike. Definitely something I strongly recommend and a game I absolutely adore.
VERY surprising, and refreshing 8/10! This is crazy, I haven't played much, but what I have played has blown my mind. I always envisioned this when I would think of a Ghost Buster game as a child. This pulls off every aspect of a great Ghost Buster game and much more because it adds the ability to actually play as different ghosts! That is insane to me!! The devs didn't even have to do that, and it still would have been a good game! But they did, and now it has a huge variety of gameplay elements that other studios wouldn't have even considered. If you enjoy any Ghost Buster type games, this will and should be at the top of your list. I can't say enough good things about this game. The effect graphics are REALLY, (maybe not so much the character models) good in addition to everything else that they pulled off making this title. If you are interested, I highly suggest you at least give it the old 2 hr. return trial try. The worst that can happen is that you won't like it, but you will still get your money back if you DO end up not liking it for some reason.

The core loop is brilliant in its simplicity: four players take on the roles of the new generation of Ghostbusters, while one player controls a powerful, elusive ghost. The match takes place across detailed maps like museums, prisons, and hotels, each packed with breakable objects, terrified civilians, and plenty of slime. The Thrill of the Bust Playing as a Ghostbuster is all about teamwork and precision. You start by scanning the environment with your P.K.E. Meter, following audio cues and vibrations to pinpoint the ghost's location and track rift portals. Once you find the ghost, the real fun begins. The proton pack feels powerful, requiring careful aim to tether the ghost without overheating the pack. The moment you successfully wrangle a ghost and slam a trap down is incredibly satisfying, often punctuated by a scramble to prevent a teammate from getting slimed or knocked out. The feeling of being part of an elite, paranormal clean-up crew is palpable, especially when coordinating your streams with your team to bring down a particularly nasty spectral foe. As the Ghost, your goal is to fully infest the location by scaring all the civilians and raising the Infestation Meter to 100%. This is where the asymmetric nature shines. You are constantly hiding, possessing objects to move around unnoticed, and performing spectacular scares. The ability to fly through walls, throw objects, and temporarily stun your pursuers makes you feel like an unstoppable force of nature. Managing your energy and knowing when to make a quick escape versus unleashing a powerful spectral attack provides a surprisingly deep layer of strategy. Atmosphere and Aesthetics Visually, the game opts for a colorful, stylized look that perfectly bridges the gap between the classic movies and modern gaming sensibilities. It’s vibrant without being cartoony, and the character and ghost designs are fantastic. Most importantly, the sound design is impeccable. From the familiar pulsing hum of the P.K.E. Meter to the iconic crackle of the proton streams and the triumphant theme song, Spirits Unleashed sounds exactly as a Ghostbusters game should. It taps directly into that well of nostalgia without relying solely on it. I'm always looking for games that I can play with my 2 kids (and spouse). It's not that easy to find something that works for different ages and skill levels, or that can be genuinely fun for everyone regardless of who wins the round. Also, relatively quick matches are a big plus for us. We're having a lot of fun, a lot of laughs. Especially when a kid gets to be the ghost and gets to troll the heck out of everyone.
