I've seen a lot of people complain about the direction of the game, including the RNG & narrative aspects of it, but I don't think it takes a lot at all to see past those things. In fact, I'd say it's probably what makes finishing it much more rewarding, or at the least satisfying. Yes, there is parts that get (to say the least) frustrating with the dependence on RNG, or messing up one seemingly insignificant thing might lead to your failure 30 minutes later- However, when it comes down to it, that's a pretty significant portion of the plot. You are not supposed to win the first time, and probably not the second time. You die, just to repeat it all over again, and once you overcome that, you do the same thing with the next. You've literally lived and died millions of times and the idea is to learn from your mistakes and give it another go. You are not always in control, sometimes even if you try and do everything right, you won't make it out 100%. That's the beauty of it. Even in Part 2, which is the most frustrating, Liam will literally remark about how no matter what you do there's never going to be a good ending. I'm normally not a fan of this genre of game, hell I don't even know what it's called. I came here out of curiosity after hearing the soundtracks on Youtube and the only other experience I have is watching Markiplier play Don't Escape 4 a LONG time ago. From what I know this is also a gamejam type of thing, meaning it's a side project? Something for funsies? Not sure. Regardless, it's phenomenal for anything. I saw a review saying something about "There's very few games that make you feel a certain way and this is one of them" And that's 100% true, this is one of those narratives that'll have you thinking in bed (long as you don't have any greater concerns in the moment) about the significance of your actions in the grand scheme of things. Overall rating, 5/5; Amazing soundtrack, a game driven by a story with a spine that's not incomprehensibly hard to understand while still being meaningful, beautiful artworks, and the only possible things I could complain about were the things that I justified to making the game what it is. 10/10 use of 11 hours.

Few games are wholly designed to make you "feel" a certain way, this is one of them. You play this game for the experience it provides, an extremely tense management of a seemingly impossible scenario. Can you solve this set of seemingly impossible scenarios? For at least half of the scenarios the answer is going to be no. This game is not balanced nor is it intended to be. Most puzzle games give you a rewarding resolution for testing your wits, this games priority of making you "feel" a certain way isn't seeking to deliver very much of that. Most games like this are spoiled/ruined with a guide, this one isn't one of them. Some scenarios can be completely or mostly sussed out, but many are solved via a fairly narrow path that feels dicey the whole way through and you were unlikely to find it. This game will test your failure tolerance, and is far from a perfect game, but what it offers as an experience is well worth it every cent. Dive in, get immersed, reach for a guide when your "done" with any given scenario. The good news is due to the complexity it's unreasonable to "memorize" this game, and as a result you can pick it up every few years and have the experience all over again from square one.

Honestly a brilliant game that deserves a much higher review score! The studio fumbled the marketing of this game by advertising it as a Point & Click adventure game, which it absolutely isn't, so I understand that frustration that caused others to review this game badly. The game is more of a set of difficult scenarios where you need to manage your team and resources each turn in order to survive and achieve some kind of goal. The game is difficult but it becomes much easier once you pay attention to the position and body language of each character. The game has a great plot, excellent writing and really cool world-building. You should definitely try it out!!

Interesting idea, but it gets boring quickly.

Gods Will Be Watching is not pitched well. Reading the store page made me think I was getting into some kind of point-and-click adventure game. That's not what this is. God Will Be Watching is a difficult resource management puzzle game with enough RNG to keep you constantly stressed. Without giving too much away, the game's difficulty and frustrating RNG is intentional. By the end of the DLC chapter, every clicks. If you accept the game for what it is, I think it tells a great little story with some strong character work in the final chapter and with gameplay that complements the story it's trying to tell.
