please ignore the length of time played. I have dexterity issues, only recently got a mouse, and a crippling sense of perfectionism that goaded me into restarting every time my hand spasmed and I misclicked. it's a good game and isn't too hard, scratches a minesweeper itch I enjoy, is a nice color scheme, etc. I personally just suck
I'm very late to the party but this game was both relaxing and challenging at once, which was exactly what I needed. I can only emphatically recommend this game. The puzzles get increasingly complex and make you work to solve them, especially if you're attempting to solve them without making mistakes, i.e., by properly working through the logical process of elimination, rather than guessing (you can complete each puzzle with mistakes). The solution to each puzzle is very elegant, as you must often consider the constraints imposed by two or more distant hex cells to know what a specific cell should, indeed must, be. It's so satisfying every time it clicks. It's not rocket science, but you do have to carefully think about each move. Solving even small areas within a broader puzzle can be very rewarding, let alone solving an entire puzzle. The game isn't pure challenge, either; it's very soothing at the same time. The background music is meditative and lends itself perfectly to solving these puzzles and unwinding. If you exit in the midst of completing a puzzle, your progress is automatically saved. This is ideal if you're taking breaks from work, or just want to play for a few minutes while eating or before bed, for instance, and pick up where you left off later. In that sense, it isn't the "Dark Souls of puzzle games", so to speak, as you can effectively pause by exiting the game. Taken together, these two features (meditative music and automatic pause/resume feature) make the game very chill while the nature of the puzzles keeps you on your toes. None of this would matter if the puzzles were boring, but they're anything but and are very satisfying. I cannot find a flaw about this game, save for the fact that it must eventually end. Even the sound your cursor makes if you hover over cells is weighty and satisfying. Once enough time has passed and I've forgotten about the specific solutions to these puzzles, I will definitely be returning to this game to solve them afresh. Elegant, challenging, and soothing best sums up this game for me. More games should force you to think critically and exercise your brain while making it a relaxing experience. A meditation of sorts, to be sure.
