How to Survive Amusing and Straightforward Zombie Survival Game Worth trying! How to Survive is a Top-down survival game set in a post-apocalyptic zombie scenario on a remote island. This game features an RPG system alongside basic survival and crafting mechanics. This entry also has an interesting visual style and a story filled with a subtle dark and absurd humor. Gameplay: Engaging and very creative zombie survival game Art: Great semi-realistic graphics mixed with a nice Grunge art style Music:Unremarkable soundtrack with tracks that eventually become annoying Gameplay How to Survive has a fairly linear story with several acceptable side missions inside a semi-open world of islands. This game features a day–night cycle system that has a significant impact on the exploration and survival mechanics. At night, exploration becomes much slower and more dangerous, as expected, due to the darkness and the appearance of a unique enemy that is honestly more annoying than frightening, but still succeeds in adding an extra layer of danger. Speaking of enemies, the game includes a somewhat limited variety of zombie threats. However, it includes zombie animal variants that pose a greater threat than their human counterparts. The crafting system works quite well and it allows the creation of a wide range of improvised melee and ranged weapons, along with armor, explosives, tools, and food recipes. Each crafted item is unique and contributes to the game’s survival mechanics. Art and World Design The game’s setting is pretty good with a nice isometric format that allows a great environmental readability. This game features many different areas to explore within various islands. Each island features a unique layout of landscapes, beaches, villages and forests. Music and Sound effects The soundtrack is the game’s weakest point. Its musical ambience often goes unnoticed, and in some cases becomes annoying, particularly the nighttime music, which feels more like a harsh, repetitive sound than an atmospheric accompaniment. On the other hand, the ambient sound design is solid, the weapon sounds, zombies, footsteps, and natural elements are appealing and very indicative. Additional Content and Multiplayer The additional content is reasonably affordable and quite fun to experience, as it adds new game modes. One of them, the Barricade DLC, is a tower defense–style mode where players must survive for as long as possible while protecting a defenseless objective. The game’s multiplayer is fairly enjoyable and adds variety to the experience, although it does not introduce major changes to the core mechanics.
