June 2025
NetherRealm Studios returns to the DC universe with Injustice™ 2, a sequel that doesn't just punch harder—it punches smarter. Building on the foundation of its predecessor, Injustice: Gods Among Us, this game takes everything fans loved and amps it up with refined mechanics, an engrossing story, and a bold new gear system that blends fighting prowess with RPG progression. The story mode remains a highlight, weaving an intense, cinematic plot that explores the fractured remnants of Superman’s authoritarian regime. This time, Earth faces a new threat: Brainiac, whose arrival forces uneasy alliances and soul-searching among the DC pantheon. The writing is tighter, the pacing is more dynamic, and the cutscenes feel like a legitimate animated film. While it leans into comic-book melodrama, it never loses its emotional core—especially in Batman and Superman’s ideological showdown. Injustice™ 2 perfects the franchise’s signature style: methodical yet explosive 2.5D combat. Each fighter feels unique, from the high-flying acrobatics of Cheetah to the bruising gadgetry of Batman. The clash system returns with even more flair, and environmental interactions are smoother and better integrated. The fighting is accessible for newcomers but offers enough depth for serious players. Timing, spacing, and character mastery are all rewarded, and transitions between areas mid-fight are still some of the most thrilling moments in any fighting game. Perhaps the most divisive but ambitious addition is the gear system. After each fight, players earn customizable gear that alters both the appearance and attributes of their characters. It adds an addictive progression loop, almost like a fighting game-meets-looter hybrid. Competitive purists can opt for “Tournament Mode” to strip away stat boosts, keeping fights fair, but for casual players, customizing Superman in glowing Kryptonian armor is pure joy. Visually, Injustice™ 2 is a stunner. Character models are detailed and expressive, from Harley Quinn’s manic grins to the glowing menace of Darkseid. The stages are vibrant, destructible, and each one tells its own story. The voice acting is solid across the board, with standout performances by Kevin Conroy (Batman) and George Newbern (Superman), lending extra gravitas to their legendary conflict. Injustice™ 2 isn’t just a great fighting game—it’s one of the most compelling interpretations of the DC Universe in gaming. With deep mechanics, a robust single-player campaign, and a creative progression system, it appeals to both fighting game enthusiasts and comic book fans. Whether you’re here to save the world or dominate it, there’s a place for you in this visually striking, emotionally rich brawler. An exceptional fighter that balances narrative depth with mechanical excellence. Justice has rarely looked—or played—this good. Rating: 9/10

April 2025
Injustice™ 2 delivers that electrifying, over-the-top fighting game experience that reminds me why I love brawlers with a bit of flair. It’s got that perfect mix of brutal combat and comic book spectacle, with every punch, kick, and special move landing with an impact that feels as satisfying as it looks. Whether you're throwing down as Superman or taking the fight to Batman, the game keeps the action fast-paced and visually stunning, with each character feeling like they truly belong in the DC universe. The roster is packed with fan-favorite heroes and villains, and each one feels distinct, with unique moves and playstyles that keep things fresh. The customization system is a huge win, unlocking gear for your characters not only gives them a unique look but also lets you tweak their stats to suit your playstyle. The ability to level up your fighters and modify their abilities adds an interesting layer of strategy to the already solid fighting mechanics. The combat itself is fluid and fun, with a solid balance between accessibility for newcomers and depth for competitive players. The special moves and environmental interactions are a spectacle to behold, and there's a real sense of satisfaction when you pull off a perfectly timed super move or launch your opponent into a destructible part of the stage. The story mode, while a bit predictable at times, is still an engaging ride that gives you an excuse to see these iconic characters clash in epic battles. Visually, the game is a knockout, character models look fantastic, and the stages are vibrant and dynamic. The voice acting and sound design bring the characters to life, with each hero and villain feeling true to their comic book and movie counterparts. Online multiplayer is solid, though it can be a bit hit or miss with matchmaking at times, especially if you're jumping into ranked matches. That said, Injustice™ 2 isn't without its quirks. The grind to unlock all the gear can feel a bit tedious at times, and some of the microtransactions are a little too prominent, though they don’t feel like they ruin the overall experience. The AI can sometimes feel cheap, especially on higher difficulty settings, which can lead to a bit of frustration. All in all, Injustice™ 2 is a spectacular fighting game that delivers a thrilling DC Universe experience for both casual and competitive players. Despite a few minor issues, it’s packed with enough content, strategy, and action to keep you coming back for more. Whether you’re a die-hard DC fan or just love a solid fighter, this game has you covered.

Enjoyable fighting game! Is great on Steam Deck but eats lots of power. 1.5 hours on battery is average time on standard settings. The game itself has a story mode and multi-universe mode that allows to level up the characters and obtain gear.

First time I have personally experienced a story mode in a fighting game that was worth the effort. I’m late to the party but this is a great game. Beautifully made.
