I saw the Dev say something along the lines of how he hates the traditional idea of set pieces in other games, where the devs basically make the builds for you, and I see that pretty clearly here. This game has a unique system in that theres tons of loot that you can "Meld" together. You like that helmet you just looted, but you also like the helmet you found a while ago? You can meld them together to get both effects basically being the engineer of your own gear. Eventually, when you get to the end game, you even unlock a 3rd meld. My only real complaint about this game is the "Despair" system. I suppose I get it from a lore perspective? Every time you die, you get 30 despair, and if you die at 100 despair, your character is taken to a RNG selection where you do have a little influence to ultimately select 1 piece of your equipment to discard. However, this whole system basically becomes a non-issue after the first boss, or whenever you get the equipment to make it so getting kills lowers your despair. My issue with it, is that its just a system you either have to force fix, or micromanage by putting on a bandaid for it before 100, its a system that shouldn't have existed to begin with. But, its a very minimal complaint. The gear customization is great, the combat is great, the loop is great. I love the pace of the incremental growth
this game is fun to play and overall experiments. unfortunately said experiment is limited due to the game performance will be tank because of huge amount projectiles which really hamper the experience. i would like to have a yes and no game, cause the limitation is pretty much a con that really halts my experience, especially if i want to go for the final achievement which is a bit difficult cause almost any attack is a one shot. i would still recommend this game under the expectation if you are willing to deal with the performance issues.
I feel I've played enough to give some early impressions. I expect to have around 40 hours in the game by the time I finish and will update this with a full review once I've beaten it. For now, I tentatively recommend it. Pros ✅Plenty of items that allow for unique builds and experimentation. ✅Beautiful art and smooth animations. ✅Satisfying sense of progression. ✅Memorable boss fights. Cons ❌The mid-to-late game can become very grindy. ❌Some enemies can one-shot you if you're not careful. ❌If you don't explore and learn how to play the game, this will seem unplayable. ❌A lot of the items don't explain what they do, and there's a steep learning curve on some of the mechanics. Mixed Bag: 😐The audio is inconsistent. Some tracks and sound effects are excellent, but certain enemy noises become repetitive or annoying over time. Current Verdict: 7/10. It could easily move up or down once I finish the game.
The game is easy enough to understand and the diversity of item and build system is expansive. The replayability of this gam can warrant to casual players at least 100 hours of game play if not more. I highly recommend this game to those who love creating unusual builds or meta builds or builds to slaughter everything in sight. I also recommend this game for speed runners to try out too as this game warrants a try out and you might be surprised about the game play. Yes it is like that of a indie game and graphics aren't polished like mainstream popular titles, but this is a hidden gem to those willing to pick it up. I highly recommend this game to play for all ages.
