I quickly learned that touching things on this planet is usually a mistake. The first hours turned into this strange routine of scanning plants, kicking weird creatures, and realizing too late that some of them really didn’t appreciate it. Half the time I was exploring, the other half I was trying to understand what just launched me off a cliff. The planet is colorful, ridiculous, and constantly tempting you to investigate something that clearly looks like a bad idea. New upgrades slowly open more paths, so you keep returning to old areas thinking maybe this time you can finally reach that ledge you noticed earlier. Sometimes you scan something harmless and think you finally figured this planet out. A second later something explodes and reminds you that curiosity here is rarely a safe idea. Note to self: stop touching alien wildlife.

We played Journey to the Savage Planet in co-op with a friend and spent about 5.6 hours on it. We mainly focused on the main quest, with a bit of exploration on the side. Overall, it was a fun and pleasant experience, but also a clearly limited one. Visually, the game is fine. It’s not technically impressive, but the artistic direction does a lot of the heavy lifting. The world is colorful, alien, and quirky, with a strong cartoonish vibe that gives the planet its own personality. You don’t play this game for realism or visual fidelity, but for its tone and atmosphere. Gameplay-wise, this is where the game shows its limits. There’s very little real combat, and when there is, it’s pretty basic. Most of the time, you’re exploring, scanning creatures and plants, jumping around, and occasionally hitting or shooting enemies that don’t offer much challenge. It works, but it lacks depth and variety, and it can feel a bit clunky at times. The progression exists, but it never truly transforms the experience. What really carries the game, without any doubt, is its humor. That’s the heart and soul of Journey to the Savage Planet. We played it in French, with the Quebecois voice acting, and honestly, it adds so much charm. The strong accent, the absurd jokes, the constant sarcasm, the fake corporate propaganda—everything is designed to make you laugh. And it works. We laughed a lot, and that’s clearly what the game is aiming for. That said, the game can also be very confusing. It’s not always clear where you need to go or what you’re supposed to do next. Objectives can feel vague, navigation isn’t always intuitive, and more than once we were stuck wondering what the game expected from us. This lack of clarity can be frustrating, especially when combined with the already limited gameplay variety. In the end, it’s a good experience, but not a great one. We had fun, we don’t regret playing it, especially in co-op, but it clearly lacks depth, gameplay richness, and long-term engagement. The humor saves it, the DA gives it personality, but the rest feels a bit shallow. For me, it’s around a 65/100. A nice, funny co-op game, worth playing once, but not something that left a strong lasting impact.

It's a cute and whimsical game with dystopian aspects to it. Challenging but not overly so with its puzzles and pve. Has a beautiful environment and story elements that make sense with the gameplay objectives.

Great game. I mean all you're really doing is scanning items and fighting bosses but it has a nice relaxing feeling. Now the 1 thing i hate is the achievements. I tru to 100% most games like this but there are about 5 achievements that need to be done co-op. I 100% the game and DLC but because I didn't do it on co-op I can't get all achievements! I hate when games force you to play multi-player. I don't want to force a friend to play this game just for me. Stop with the multi-player achievements!!!!!!!!

I loved this game, in that way you can love a carb heavy meal when your hung over. It's situational, it's not something you want all the time, but it can really hit the spot. This game reminds me a lot of slime rancher and a bit of breath of the wild and metroid. Slime rancher in that there's a story here but it doesn't really matter. Your here to play with the mechanics and the world and you may or may not get invested in the story. It reminds me of BOTW because there are too many damn collectibles. There's a lot of extra fuel and orange blobs that litter the map and don't even do anything but raise a completion percentage. If you're someone who likes to 100% games this would be an exhausting game to do that for. And metroid because of the unlockable/upgradable power ups that let you approach the environment and environmental puzzles in new ways. All that aside, the world and mechanics are really enticing. It's a genuinely very fun game. You have a silly slap mechanic, a variety of projectiles and an upgradable gun with unlockable mechanics. The gameplay can be a bit cumbersome and awkward at times, but it is overall incredibly enjoyable. The humor is irrevant and over the top, but not very consistent. You only really get it in the ship and early at the beginning of the game, when I would've liked more of it through the game while exploring the wilderness. I only played this in single player, but would really recommend it. It's a solid 7/10 game for me.
