April 2025
I remember the first time I played Just Cause 3. It was late 2015. I was twenty-two, my soul still restless, my heart starting to understand the strange ache nostalgia can bring. That Christmas, I bought it for myself — a small gift, a way to feel a little freer. A blue case, a fresh disc for my PS4. But it wasn’t just a game. It was a promise. It was Just Cause 3. I installed it, pressed play, and the real world blurred into heat and sunlight. I spent every hour of that day flying over Medici’s blue seas and crumbling fortresses. The wing-suit dives, the mountains, the ridiculous explosions stitched themselves into my memory forever. I wasn’t playing it. I was living it. And then came so many outposts, so many wingsuit runs from one island to another. Endless moments tethering, grappling, laughing at the absurdity of it all. I knew every cliff, every hidden shrine, every military base ready to fall. And without any map open on my phone — because discovery felt better that way — I made Medici mine. It was my world. It was home. Sometimes my friends would come over, crowding around the small TV. Passing the controller after every insane stunt. I still remember one night we tried to glide across the entire map without touching the ground. We never made it. We laughed until our sides hurt. It was our refuge. It was our bridge. And now, almost a decade later, I go back. The world has changed. I have changed. I'm thirty-one now. And some of those friends… they are just voices from another time. Yet every time I boot up Just Cause 3, it feels like lighting a spark under the ashes of youth. The framerate dips, the controls wobble — but the heart is untouched. Every rocket, every gliding dive through burning skies speaks a language only memory knows. It’s the voice of freedom. It’s the echo of laughter late into the night. Just Cause 3 isn’t just a game. It’s a time machine. It’s a second chance to touch, even for a moment, the weightless magic we thought we had lost. And as Rico soars through the golden dusk, I remain there. Fingers steady on the keyboard... And a tear I cannot tell — whether it’s sorrow or gratitude.

Just Cause 3 is a blast to play! It's the kind of mindless fun where you turn off your brain and just cause chaos. The traversal in this game is easily one of the best parts of the game. Swinging around with the grappling hook, gliding with the wingsuit, and parachuting makes you feel like a mix between Spider-Man and Iron Man. Also, pulling off ridiculous stunts feels like you're the main character of an Hollywood action movie lol The size of the map is both impressive and problematic at the same time. While some areas are beautiful, the world feels empty outside of towns and enemy bases, making exploration a bit boring. Another downside is the gear upgrades being locked behind very frustrating challenges, which feels more like a chore than a reward. After about 20 hours, I started to lose interest. The over-the-top action is fun, but eventually it bore me. Maybe I'll return someday, putting this game down for now.

Just cause 3 is an open world game set on the fictional Mediterranean island of Medici featuring a large map filled with diverse missions and activities. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3260289533 If you played Just Cause 2 or a similar game like GTA before you already know the ropes but if you're new don't worry..you'll learn everything in minutes. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3300864359 I was surprised by the beautiful landscapes and effects like explosions or little details in the architecture , the sky at night looks incredible and from time to time i had to stop to enjoy a view and those moments were many.. The open world freedom lets you do everything you want, you can ignore the main story if you want and liberate outposts and cities or just explore the world with your grappling hook, wingsuit and parachute. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3301533498 The gameplay is great if you like chaotic destruction.. from explosions to destructible structures everything is on point for this kind of game however it's kind of funny how you die without penalty just to respawn with your ammo resupplied.. From my perspective this was a rewarding experience but with a few inconveniences i just can't ignore. I'll start with the forced humor, it's a trademark for the series and here we have plenty but it feels just cold. The storyline is lackluster and it lacks emotions or it fails to create a bond with the player and i'll end with the same repetitive world design and missions. It's frightening for me because i'll play Just Cause 4 too in the future and from what i've seen it feels more of a DLC than a separate game , but i like these types of games so much i just can't skip that. So why this is still a good game for me? Because i had hours of fun blasting enemies with rpgs , tanks or helicopters or special weapons and gears. Or maybe it was the wingsuit and the exploring part that made me feel like a child with a smile on my face.. In conclusion if you like open world games and you're looking for a little bit of fun play this! Pros -huge map and beautiful graphics -destructible structures and large arsenal of weapons and vehicles -wingsuit and parachute with grappling hook creates endless ways to approach enemies or explore the map -despite inconveniences the joy to create mayhem alone makes this a worthy game Cons -easy and repetitive -fun but not memorable My scores Story- 7 Gameplay- 9 Graphics- 9 Sound- 8 Overall- 8.25
