It's Squadron TD from Starcraft 2, but better. It's super easy to pick up games with fast matchmaking and a big community. Classic mode is a ton of fun, and you can play both solo and with friends. Big recommend, trying out cheesy builds is endless fun

The game is great and really unique. It is a tower defense, but be aware, PvP brings some unique mechanics not seen often in typical TD game. It's kinda tower defense + auto battler PvP. There is no established name for such type of games, that's why I call it unique. I would call it a "Tower defense crack". It has infinite replayability, short matches (~ 20 minutes average), regular updates. It is perfectly balanced. Easy to start, hard to master. No bugs. It has some single player content, but the core game is 2v2 command PvP (or 4v4 mode). It requires internet for PvP. I find the community is also great - for more than 100 hours I did not vitness mean behavior in game, never no one was throwing a game.

This game takes a while to get into, but once you get the hang of it, is so much fun to play. If you enjoy games where you can strategically optimize in a pvp setting, this game is for you. I always come back even after some time off :)

Played Legion TD in WC3 years ago and backed the game on Kickstarter when it was announced. The game is perfect for those who likes a competetive itch in their games and enjoy Tower Defense games. The gameplay and amount of potential strategy is very deep and the developers are on-top of the game with meta-updates.

Let me take you back to a time of awe and wonder that is joining a custom map in Warcraft III. There are obvious standouts from the time, but with no real standards, any mod could be named anything and any version. Joining a game, you would have to hope the lobby even filled up. Often, you would have no idea what you're about to play or what to do in game, and the quality would vary greatly. That's not even counting whether or not people didn't leave or disconnect right away once the game started. Enter games with steep learning curves and such, like DotA. I played countless hours of that, and occasionally, I played other maps to see what they were like. I don't specifically remember Legion TD from back in the day, but odds are that I played it at some point and had no idea what I was doing. Not really able to compare it to its previous iteration, what I can say is that playing this game has triggered in me a certain sense of nostalgia. It also helps that, now having played quite a bit of hours, Legion TD 2 is a fun game without the aforementioned problems of yesteryear. The game is based on a simple concept. Tower defense: use resources to build units, defend against waves, earn gold to buy and upgrade more, repeat. The game has a few modes, such as single-player campaign and multiplayer with ranked and classic modes. My time in the game is primarily playing the ranked 2v2 mode, only solo queuing. This game scratches the itch for a competitive, strategic game. There are many decisions to be made in a real-time setting that will greatly affect the outcome of the match. It can even be overwhelming at first, but depending on your experience with strategy games and similar ones in the genre, the basics will be picked up really fast. Ranked being only 2v2 has a lot of potential for drawbacks as you have to rely on your partner's ability to do their part. I've had a good experience while only solo queuing, and I honestly haven't had to deal with any toxic players in almost 100 hours of play time. There are reviews that talk about toxic players, and I don't doubt their experiences at all. However, it's a game... on the internet... with chat. I mean, there is nothing you can do about bad actors popping up, but I did not personally experience any widespread toxicity. I got one snarky comment once, and I just muted the player and finished the game. That was it. My biggest gripe would have to be the game's base price tag. At $24.99 USD, I imagine most potential players would be put off. I picked it up when it was on a 50% sale. Personally, it's worth it at either price point, but if you're on the fence, definitely wait for a sale if you've read this far and have made any sense of what I'm trying to say so far. I've been really light on specific game mechanics. Seek those out, if you need. However, if you already play similar games and are looking for a competitive, strategic experience, then Legion TD2 can provide you with many, many hours of entertainment.
