Luto isn’t about being chased by monsters—it’s about facing the ghosts inside your mind. Set inside a looping, shifting house, you step into the shoes of Samuel, endlessly reliving a day that won’t let him go. As the environments warp and timelines blur, the house becomes both a prison and a mirror—an evocative metaphor for grief and trauma rehearsed over and over

This game is amazing. It's such a hard hitting and hurtful game about mental health in the best way. The way trauma and pain is depicted is some of the most well done I have ever seen. I bawled my eyes out with all of my chatters once we finished the game, it had hit so close to things I personally felt ; and it was done in a way that felt so real and suffocating - but it was also so comforting. This game will kick you in the teeth and make you feel seen, please play it and be sure to take care of yourself while and after you do <3

An amazing and unique experience that utilizes gaming medium in unexpected but thoughtful ways. I don't think I ever played anything better at exploring grief and depression. After finishing it I just know that it will stick with me. I will think about the messaging and its delivery for a long time. Any future games that explore dark themes and are story rich will be compared against this one in my mind. Thank you devs for creating something special.

I felt like I had to leave a review here after seeing some of the comments on the forums and seeing what people are writing in their reviews cause that's some CRAZY BUSINESS and you'd swear reading some of the reviews that these people hadn't ever played a video game in their life. A common complaint that I see is with the narrator. That's at least understood. Yes, the narrator is weird but there is a reason that they have him and a reason why the game is being narrated. If these people took the time to play through the game and understood what the narrator was doing, why he was doing it and the purposes for the story that it served then they'd probably cut it some slack, but most people don't want to have to actually deep dive and THINK about a story. They want it written on notes dropped around the map and spoon fed to them. There's also a surprising number of people complaining about the puzzles????? Let me break down the types of puzzles that are in the game so you can understand that anyone who complains about the puzzles in this game may just be a moron. There are puzzles where you just need to figure out a number based on a drawing. The drawing practically has the number written in it it's so goddamned easy. One of the numbers is a picture of a clock. A clock that's set to a time. A time which conveniently is a number. There's also puzzles that require you to LOOK AT AN OBJECT. You know those old games where you had to like, look at a messy photo and click on a specific object? That's basically it. There are two sections of the game where the puzzle is just "FIND OBVIOUS OBJECT IN ROOM YOU ARE IN". There is also the "look at these three symbols puzzle" where you look at three symbols and then you put those symbols into a lock. Oh and there's also a puzzle where you just need to press a single button 3 times. Like, do you catch my drift here? It's not rocket science puzzles. If you can beat old Nancy Drew games I promise you that you can beat these puzzles. Another comment I saw quite a few times was people being upset that the game wasn't like the demo. I suspect that they mean specifically in terms of the narrator as he was absent from the demo. I honestly like the direction they went in with the narrator and how he tied the story together and kept you guessing, but it's not for everyone. Yes, the narrator has definite Stanley Parable vibes but I PROMISE you it makes sense if you actually play through the whole game. The game wouldn't work without it. Lastly people say it's not very scary. It's true, there's only about 3 jumpscares in the whole game but I also think that's a good thing. The jumpscares that they have were all fairly effective (on me at least) and they weren't overused which is a super common thing in horror games. This isn't going to be one of those games that makes you sweat because you're too scared to leave a room, but what it will do is keep you glued to your chair wondering why things are happening the way they are happening and WHY. It's an extremely deep, very obviously personal story that the devs are telling and if you actually let yourself get into the game and really absorb what's going on I believe the game will have an impact on you. This is definitely one of the better horror games I've ever played and by this point I've played hundreds if not thousands of them. Luto is a slow burn, often strange horror game but I believe it definitely delivers. If you speedrun the game you can beat it in around 1.5 - 2 hours. Probably even faster if you know where to go. An average playthrough more than likely is around 6 - 8 hours. Also, to the people in the forums and in the reviews that are offended that a game could have a character who was gay, I am really sorry that your lives are so tragic and dull that a single protagonist being gay has upset you this much. You should seek therapy ASAP.

After waiting three years for this game I can happily say that this is one of those times where all three years were used to its fullest potential to make a beautiful game. Not just visually, but emotionally. It's terrifying, it's dark, it's deep, it's clever. So much love went into this and you can really feel it. I've never played a game that so cleverly used the cinematic bars for storytelling purposes. And I have to be honest that I took severe psychic damage when some people here on the steam store that only played 30 minutes leave a negative review "I can't turn off the cinematic bars". Literally this game couldn't exist without them. Obviously you can't turn them off. But anyway, this game is awesome. The demo was already good, but mostly because it was just really beautiful in terms of graphics, besides the graphics it was relatively generic. I went into this expecting yet another regular scary psychological horror game that I would play, get scared at, and then forget. But instead I got an experience that I will be measuring all future "meaningful" games against. As someone who has played hundreds of horror games I am so happy to have something unique rather than a safe and easy quick scare. Definitely highly recommend.
