Magicka 2 Overall impression The continuation of a fun series with a unique "alchemical" mechanic, which this time gives the player 11 elements to use, but at the same time changes certain mechanics that were "broken" in the first part, or in other words, reworked the balance - so that the enemies had at least some chance against the player. The entire Campaign was played Solo 2 times in its entirety. The very first one was on the "Normal" difficulty, and the next one was "Impossible" or "Bananas" (code word from the first part?) , which in some places was really impossible (only for a while :) ) . The third time was purely for some achievements. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3436254880 What DID I like? [*] The system of weaknesses and strengths of opponents, which requires selecting elements to attack against them. On the highest difficulty, choosing the right elements plays a critically important role. [*] The system of artifacts, which allows you to customize the session to your taste. Want hardcore, or fly the entire company in a few hours? Go ahead. [*] The system of arsenal and rob for the player. Unlike the first part, here you have the opportunity to build builds of different types for different opponents and locations. Of course, the ideal build is difficult to achieve, and in most cases it will have weaknesses along with strengths. What I DIDN'T like? [*] Need for a Paradox Interactive account to play multiplayer. [*] Magick`s quick access. [*] The presence of OP magick`s, which will be chosen in 90% of cases. And the rest will be used purely for fun. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3436254800 Conclusion After two full playthroughs of the game, it would be interesting to look at its gameplay in the company of other players. Would it be a balanced game? I'm sure not. Since when you play solo you are responsible only for yourself. In addition to guessing about multiplayer, it was quite interesting to build your own builds for certain locations or bosses, not counting the selection of elements for defense and attack. The time trial at the maximum difficulty level in solo at the "Triumvirate" level gives you a real test. It's a pity that some achievements definitely require company to achieve them. And I almost forgot: Vlad is not a vampire.

Bought it because I enjoyed the game mechanics and humor of the first game so much. Only played it single-player and had a fine experience, everything runs extremely well on my mid-range PC. Minor gameplay improvements since the first game that were much appreciated and the humor in the dialogue is still top notch albeit predictable. Only experienced a couple bugs where the game didn't know it was supposed to progress the story so I had to redo those sections.

Difficulty levels in this game are fundamentally broken and it makes this game MUCH LESS FUN than it could be. On normal difficulty all enemies have a fair amount of HP, move fast, and deal normal damage. The entire game can be completed by using a single combination of electric+arcane+fire laser, because it is a spell that deals an insane amount of damage and has a lot of different elements in it so it ignores most resistances. The game is extremely easy and provides no challenge on normal difficulty. On hard difficulty, however, all enemies receive a FLAT 50 HP regen per second. This breaks almost all balance in the game, because now your only chance to kill an enemy is to use a devastating burst spell, like boulder or icicle barrage. All Damage Over Time and slowing spells become essentially useless, since the enemy often regenerates half of the DPS you do to them. This is a very lazy game design choice and it massively hinders the game's ability to give the player some healthy and challenging gameplay. Anyway, the game is not being updated anymore, so leaving a negative review about balance is not going to change anything. The game is good and has some great and interesting magic casting mechanics: There are over 1000 possible combinations of elements which all lead to different spellcasts. The gameplay is quite deep and unique, the only thing I don't like is when the game swarms you by tons of strong enemies from all sides, forcing you to run around and avoid enemy attacks without any chance to strike back. But if you don't demand a lot of challenge and just want to cast some interesting spells at random goblins and bugs - this game is perfect, and even better if you have a couple of friends.

If you can't get online, make your paradox account on the paradox website itself instead of ingame, and then link your steam account in the connections tab. It'll detect the connection ingame and then can you play with your friends and enjoy spellcasting shenanigans!
