Usually, I do not write reviews, but this one needs to be done. I am writing it for the developer to know where improvements can be made. The game is fun, and the mechanics are on a good track to becoming great. The story is well-made, even though the player doesn't have much choice. The biggest problem with the story is that, as a player, you always have only one chance. If you choose the wrong option at the beginning, you lose something at the end of the game. For example, if you choose to hit the landlord... all that awaits you is death and a save-load. There is no option to talk back or do something different—everything has only one path. The story has two and a half endings. To avoid spoilers, I will say that you have to choose whose side you will stand on. You can also choose none. Choosing one side gives you about 30 minutes of epilogue, with epic storytelling about the people you met throughout the game. Choosing the other side gives you 30 seconds of epilogue, which feels lackluster. The "half" ending is actually the second one, but with a great twist; however, the developer doesn't indicate that it will be interesting when choosing. You need to make a save and replay the endings to discover it. Saving and Auto-Saving Issues: The game saves every time you go to bed, which is cool. However, the save system is poorly implemented—loading a game automatically creates another save, leading to a cluttered save list. Additionally, the game saves in the morning, not at night when you go to bed. This can cause soft locks. For example, one quest forces you to make a weapon for an individual who threatens to kill you at night if it's not completed. Once you sleep, the game autosaves, and you die. Weapon Creation: It's fun but needs a lot of polish. At the beginning, you need to create a weapon template at the desk. You design a weapon by adding a pommel, hilt, guard, and blade. There's a lot to choose from—but not really. Each blade and hilt is made up of parts. For example, to create a 30cm blade, you need to add six 5cm parts. There are about 40 types of blade parts, some dented, some saw-like, allowing for interesting combinations—cool! The same applies to the hilt. Each part has its own attributes, which influence weapon stats. Clients in the blacksmith shop often request specific statistics, which usually require the same pommel, guard, and wood to meet the requirements. The only time you can enjoy designing unique weapons is in free mode, where you sell weapons to random customers. Another problem with the design system is that you design weapons assuming they're made of a single metal. You can mix metals during assembly, but at that point, you have no idea how it will impact stats, so you generally don't mix. This could have been a great aspect of the game. There are racks in the workshop where random non-interactable NPCs can buy weapons, earning you gold and fame. Sometimes, I wanted to create a simple weapon like a katana but couldn't because the game lacked a katana tip or guard. Other times, I wanted to make a cool, sharp-toothed weapon, but its stats turned out terrible. And if you want to make money in this game, there's only one way—create weapons out of gold. Characters and World: Throughout the game, you meet a dozen or so unique characters with their own stories and needs, which is well done. However, outside the workshop, the game stagnates. You can: Spend 1/3 of your time at the brothel 1/3 at the arena watching slave fights 1/3 mining metal ore Slaves: Once you get enough money to buy your first slave, it's like an avalanche. You can make 10k gold on your own; with your first slave, you make 20k. You can buy up to 15 slaves, but realistically, 5 is all you need to achieve infinite money. Put 2 in gold mines, 3 at anvils to make golden weapons, and sell them for huge profits. Each sale gives you fame points, which can be spent on passive skills to improve your blacksmithing, slaves, or unlock new weapon parts. Slaves can eventually create perfect weapons with 100% stats across the board; you just need to wait for them to level up. Slaves are poorly implemented—they shouldn't be slaves. Instead, they should be apprentices with salaries. Right now, they just hammer anvils endlessly. They don't rest, sleep, or take breaks, making them feel like lifeless machines. There's also a bug: when creating weapons, if you don't stockpile short sticks for handles, slaves will use entire 196cm logs, quickly depleting your wood supply. Smelting: You need to smelt ores to create alloys, which are poured into molds for pommels, guards, and blades. Each ore is 0.1L, and you usually throw in 2 or 3 ores, leaving leftovers in the bucket. Unfortunately, you can't save it—you must use or discard it. There's no ingot mold or resmelting feature. By the end, I was accustomed to wasting materials by pouring excess molten metal on the ground just to clear the bucket for the next order. Arena and Combat System: I didn't enjoy the fighting system, so I ignored it. At one point, you leave the city for a quest. An NPC asks you to train 6 slaves, equip them with armor and weapons, and fight 10 times. Each fight rewards 500 fame points, with even more at the end. If you recall, I mentioned fame is used for skills. Before this point, I spent 30 hours grinding fame points in small increments of 9 per sale, but suddenly, I was flooded with points. It felt like the developer added an easy way for impatient players to skip progression. Becoming a Noble: You can grind 10 million gold to buy noble status. The greedy landlord visits every month to collect taxes. She's so well-written that you'll want to murder her in the worst way. But if you do, you die—because harming someone of higher status leads to instant death. Becoming a noble changes nothing. You should have more privileges, like slapping commoners, just like the nobleman who slaps you for everything. Final Thoughts: My first review—I hope you like it.

This game is actually pretty good. Worth the money for sure. I made a million bucks in the first month, beat up an orphan, bought slaves, released them for reputation, then unlocked the whole skill tree. 10/10 The surprising part about this game is the attention to detail in the story. The dialogue is hilarious at times and pretty easy to relate to. I'm excited to see the next updates. Thank you devs!

Years ago, I used to imagine designing this exact game before going to bed. I am so happy have discovered it and to find it implemented so well. -Enjoyable in its current state and very VERY promising The (very) good: -Rich but well abstracted mechanics, deep and fun learning curve, strong economy, good worldbuilding, surprisingly decent writing. Music is good too. -Progression curve is very well tuned. The repetition of making weapons is well balanced with customers with varied personalities, requests, and backstories. -Completing orders and selling weapons unlocks new skills at a balanced pace. Just by playing the game you will naturally identify which skills you want to invest it. Areas that need addressing: -Some frequent minor bugs that can be easily fixed by opening/closing a menu. No restarts required so far. -Some extremely painful bugs (leaving a blade in an assembly table, saving the game, reloading that save, and losing the blade) -Some missing or glitchy features (Weapon designs/molds do not tell you how many liters of melted metal you need, you can only have one melting crucible, lathe guide overlay doesn't appear for me) -Lathe lighting and controls -Noticable seams/blending issues between blade tips and the rest of the blade My opinions: -Blade parts are not well organized. It is hard to tell the width of various parts from their thumbnails, and being able to sort by weight/durability/cut/pierce bonus as well as which parts "fit" together smoothly would be a huge improvement. -Some of the "best" blade points in regard to their stats look a little goofy in my opinion. -Magic effects are too visually aggressive and overwhelm the appearance of weapons -While I am impressed at the scope of the game and the inclusion of various other (very cool) systems like combat, magic, etc, I would like to see more focus on just getting the core designing/smithing experience to be as amazing as it definitely can be. -I really really like this game and this approach to crafting in general should set the standard for "AAA" rpgs that involve crafting. It is far more interesting and rewarding that it is tedious.

Came here because of Drae. Legitimately fun game, far more realistic than other blacksmithing games I've played. It doesn't baby you, and the custom blade designing is really fun to play around with. I do recommend you give this a go.
