Spoiler-free, rather messy collection of thoughts about Million Depth: 🟒 The most unique gameplay mechanic in recent memory. I always search for games with new gameplay. This absolutely gets full mark in that aspect. It's very well fleshed out, there's many hours worth of additional mechanics built on top of the unique system. 🟒 Atmosphere, Setting, and Music I really liked the soundworks in the cutscenes and intermissions. It really makes the journey following Moma diving into Million Depth feel very special and precious. 🟒 Illustration and Graphics Moma is very cute! And true pixel graphics, a rarity in this modern time. With several very pretty fullscreen CGs too, crazy 🟒 Content distribution, Repetitiveness Game feature unlocks and spread out and drip fed well. After many hours there's still new things and my interest was well sustained. 🟒 Fun Almost forgot this one The game was fun, and that's important. 🟒 Bugs Oh and this one I experienced no crashes, no softlocks, not really any major bugs. This is important because each game session can be quite long hitting an hour. Not sure if there is resume feature, I didn't try 🟑 Intensity, Fatigue I could only play 1-2 hour session each time before needing a break. 🟑 Controls You want Mouse & Keyboard, I can't imagine playing this on Controller. Spoiler-y section below --- 🟑Writing/Execution/Pacing This one is a bit tough for me to pin down on what exactly felt off. I don't think it's the localization; it's decent: no basic mistakes and I understand the story / the idea gets through. Nearing the end climax of the story, the execution or writing feels lacking: I understand the event but they didn't quite hit me strong. It still feels very special and sublime, but unfortunately the emotion it was trying to invoke gets a weak response from me. I am not sure if this is better in the original language, that perhaps it's due to localization making the dialogue lines awkward. Why is this 🟑 yellow and not πŸ”΄ red? On a high level, I still really really love the story plot. I love the setting, and Moma's journey into the Million Depth. I think the kernel of the story is cinema material, and the delivery can be improved. It really feels very special, and I wish someday the smaller details in writing can be refined. βšͺ Closing Thought Moma is so cute! I love Moma! I want more lore about Moma! I wish I can interact and pat Moma or Hachi when they show up in the game menu. Like Trickcal maybe!

This game is way more interesting than it has any right to be. If I were to describe it, it is like SUPERHOT, Steins;Gate, and the gummy ship building of Kingdom Hearts, with just a splash of Signalis. I pirated the game because of the cute MC, played one run, and immediately went to buy the game. Worth the price as far as I'm concerned.

The game is a unique blend of rougelike real-time bullet hell gameplay. The soundtrack design is amazing whether just listening or how it fits the cutscene it's being played in. The plot leans far too much into the "fill in the gaps" yourself and leaves many unanswered questions and plot holes within the story. The premise itself is a 10/10 idea but sadly the execution leaves much to be desired (Maybe in a future update or dlc?). The total game can be completed in 8-12 hours depending on how high you crank the difficulty on your runs. The difficulty within this game spikes drastically as you progress between each world line. Without spoiling too much, the game beings to start introducing "undodgeable" attacks and tries to force you into using shields to remove such attacks. The difficulty modifiers that are supposed to make your rougelike difficulty runs harder don't add any difficulty to your run already besides the pollen modifier. This may be my personal opinion but the pollen modifier itself is enough to make the run harder than every other modifier combined. Also the gun blueprint sucks.

OK, I played the demo and got hooked on the opening (nice anisong). I finished the game entirely (all the timelines). The gameplay is interesting, I usually don't have much time to play video games but it was the right combination of difficulty (knobs, incl. the useful story mode or hard mode) w.r.t. crafting the adequate weapons to face challenges, learning how to survive in the depths and so on. The story was particularly intriguing if you like mystery in the theme of Steins;Gate and Steins;Gate 0 (!!), this definitely filled this niche in my heart. I definitely would love extensions or more story development to understand how certain world lines came to be, but this was definitely awesome.

I’m having so much fun! The story, music, visuals, and especially the game design are all amazing. Totally hooked on the crafting system. I’m also a big fan of キャブタニ :)
