For context, I have 100%ed the game over a 30+ hour run, with just over half that time being played on my Steam Deck OLED. I have completed all three branches of the story, playing as the Earth Alliance, ZAFT and Archangel Coalition, and all extra missions with S-Rank or higher. I have unlocked all units and pilots, and completed all Hyper Boss missions in Extra Mission mode as well, with S-Rank or higher. For those who want a TLDR of the review, I would say that Gundam Seed Battle Destiny Remastered is the best non-RTS Gundam game on Steam currently, but comes with some caveats that you may wish to take into consideration if you want to purchase it. So, for the good, the series is faithfully reproduced, with all the blemishes and idiosyncrasies the SEED series has overall. I know the SEED series divides Gundam fans, so if you do not like the SEED series, side stories and the like, then this game may not be for you. However, if you do, it is a very rewarding game to play, as the love for the lore and content is quite evident. The remaster has done a good job of keeping what made the PSP game special. For the not-so-good, the difficulty curve spikes very hard on certain missions, and some enemies will one-shot you, no matter how much you upgrade your units. I made the mistake of going through an Earth Alliance run first and got destroyed multiple times before I finally beat the last CE71 mission, for example. That is not to mention the last Hyper Boss battle as well, which I only S-ranked by sheer luck, with a sliver of health left. No guide can prepare you for those missions adequately, so do yourself a favour and, whatever faction you start with, switch to the Archangel coalition so you can unlock the top units for that era. I strongly recommend reading this guide: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3485572716 as it is very helpful to plan your runs by faction efficiently. A nice addition to the game would have been to change what canonically happens depending on which faction you choose to fight for. The missions are already done, so just some short ending sequences would have made this remaster much better. As it stands, everything that canonically happens, happens regardless of your actions. The game is geared towards a controller; some of the transformable suits do not really shine until you make the switch. Keep that in mind before your purchase. I have had two crashes on my Steam Deck, none on my laptop. No issues otherwise. I managed to fix it by leaving the frame cap unlimited in my Steam Deck settings. My deck is heavily modded, so I will not take points off for that. Overall, I give this game an 8/10. I think it is great to pick up and play on a Steam Deck or a similar device, and it works really well. If you only have a computer, the mouse and keyboard control scheme makes it tough to use certain units that transform well to their full potential. The game is somewhat short for full price, so unless you are a die-hard Gundam Seed fan, pick it up on sale.

Pretty much the definitive Gundam on PC at the moment No chibis No turn based No gunpla No always online No FPS lock No gimmicks Just straight up mecha action with RPG mechanics and gundams behaving exactly like they do in the show. Easily game of the year so far.

I mean- it's good enough or whatever. It's nothing incredible but it's a solid port. Fun enough combat, really shines in the selection of suits though and +10 points for being able to switch packs for the Strike Gundam mid mission. That's really sick. Just wish Bandai cared more about the Gundam franchise. After what FromSoftware did with Armored Core we should be swimming in amazing Gundam games and not breathlessly clutching our pearls in hopes of a good port of a mobile, arcade or PlayStation game.
