Greed. Poor business decisions. Mismanaged team. Yet at it's core, a game that wanted to be special. Thank you for the memories Multiversus.

It's a damn shame what happened with this game. The move to completely redo the game after the beta ended was probably one of the biggest mistakes they made. Even at the end of this game's life, when the game is in the best state it's ever been after its full release, I still think the game was at its absolute best during the beta. I could go on about the individual things I liked and didn't like, but that doesn't really matter since the game's only got a few months left. I finished up the last battle pass, collected all I can cosmetic-wise, so I think I'm gonna shelve it now since there's not really any other sort of progression left. I had a BLAST with this game, it's just a shame it went so wrong. Having a Smash clone on PC with recognizable characters that I liked that was actually fairly solid will probably never happen again, which is a damned shame.

After following this game from the reveal trailer, I genuinely believe this game was a labor of love by its developers that deserved the time and attention of so many more players than it had at peak numbers. The potential this game realized, let alone what it never did realize, is a testament to the love the studio had for this concept, and I hope they all move to bigger and better things and that someday this format can be attempted again. Live service for a platform fighter remedies so many of this genre's problems and the biggest failure in the case of MultiVersus is WB's sudden realization that in general, live service is unnecessary. I think MultiVersus is a tragic case of collateral damage from WB's repeated and erratic under and over-commitments to live service after this realization, and that all it really needed was better structure. I could get into the nuance of this, and am willing to if anyone wants to discuss, but at this point this review is meant to be a eulogy to a game I truly loved, even when I hated it. Someday this game will be used to improve another game of the same type, and that alone is worth its existence and the resulting controversies.

are you kidding??? i spent over 100$ to back this game as a founder when it first l aunched and it was AMAZING with tons of players and hype.... then you took it down and killed ALL of the momentum and popularity then RE-released it with TONS of micro-transactions and bs grindy features no one wanted. you could have just released the game AS IS and added more characters and maps and had a success. now? we get to lose all the potential this game had and no one who spent money on anything is getting refunded? i have MORE tokens for free characters than u even released....like tf? and then instead of at least keeping it up so we can play youre shutting EVERYTHING down? WB..stop making games....just license them to someone who isnt a greedy r#t@rd and ACTUALLY cares about the properties involved.....after this i refuse to EVER buy any game made by them or give money to WB again. so sick of them killing games less than a YEAR after its official release.... please someone steal the code or something so we can at least keepo this game going via p2p or fan servers. or maybe someone buy it form them and release it as an ACTUAL finished game instead of locking everything behind TONS of grind and paywall

Fun but disappointing. With the studio going nearly bankrupt and the game slowly losing players I have a feeling this game might not make it past summer 2025. There is often a player spike when a new character or season pass is released, but it always fades. This is NEVER going to be able to compete with other platform fighters in it's current condition, but its still fun none the less. 7.6/10
