# --- MY THOUGHTS: The cuteness overtook me and I gave in, buying this game. I still can't believe I spent money on this sequel, but I also can't believe that it's actually pretty good. It's a relative upgrade from the original. I like that it has more levels, a few more mechanics and that a few of the characters from the original game make an appearance in this one too. Only buy this game if it's on sale, otherwise I don't think it's worth it all the money. It could have easily been a free game, but I respect the devs for trying to earn a living. # --- RATING: 7/10
Achievement hunters, here’s a little candy pile
Mushroom Cats 2 is exactly what it says on the Steam page: more Mushroom Cats , but this time with a price tag and 5 tiny levels to hop through. The first stage is the big one, while the other 4 feel more like bonus rounds: cute, colorful, and over in 2 minutes or less. It keeps the same whimsical charm as the first game, bursting with adorable art and lots of little interactive elements to poke at, and it’s incredibly simple to play from start to finish. Just don’t come here looking for challenge. There’s no hint system, but you’ll never need one anyway: the difficulty is so low it’s practically lying down. The whole thing is excruciatingly short, achievements are too numerous, and you still can only move with edge scrolling, no WASD or mouse movement. And the biggest oopsie: there’s no save system. If you exit a level or the game crashes, you’re starting that stage from scratch. Definitely watch each level ending before leaving because some stages keep going after the cutesy last move (learn from my pain, I beg you). It’s a forgettable but sweet little 15 minutes that works best on sale. Perfect for kids or for adults wanting something calm, cheerful, and undemanding. Just don’t expect anything remotely challenging if you’re a seasoned HOG enjoyer and know what you're buying. Mushroom Cats 2 is a delightful and heartwarming indie experience created by Anatoliy Loginovskikh, a developer known for crafting simple yet emotionally resonant games that radiate charm and positivity. This sequel builds on the cozy spirit of the original Mushroom Cats, expanding its world into a more vibrant and colorful universe filled with quirky feline characters, whimsical music, and playful hidden-object puzzles. Rather than striving for complexity or challenge, the game focuses on creating a space of calm and wonder—a small, interactive fairytale designed to make players smile. It’s a reminder that sometimes games don’t need intricate mechanics or long narratives to be memorable; they only need sincerity, creativity, and a touch of magic. The story, as with most of Loginovskikh’s works, is minimal yet endearing. The Mushroom Cats live on towering toadstool houses scattered across floating islands in the sky. When the chill of autumn arrives, their cozy world is threatened by the cold, and it’s up to the player to help each cat find its missing hat. This simple premise drives the experience, but it’s the setting and atmosphere that truly bring it to life. Each level represents a small, self-contained diorama filled with hand-drawn animations, lively colors, and tiny environmental details that make exploration feel joyful rather than taxing. Every click reveals a bit of personality—cats wiggle with happiness when you return their hats, objects shift or bounce with charming motion, and the world feels tactile and alive despite its minimalism. Visually, Mushroom Cats 2 is an absolute treat. The game’s art style is both childlike and imaginative, employing pastel hues, soft textures, and a layering of hand-drawn animation that creates a storybook atmosphere. The world feels like it was illustrated with colored pencils and watercolor brushes, full of warmth and character. Each Mushroom Cat is distinct, with different outfits, expressions, and personalities that reveal themselves through small animations rather than dialogue. The environments—floating islands suspended above an endless ocean—reinforce the game’s fairytale quality, evoking both serenity and curiosity. Complementing the visuals is a soothing soundtrack that perfectly matches the whimsical tone. The music loops gently in the background, combining light melodies and ambient nature sounds, creating a sense of peace that turns the simple act of clicking into something meditative. The gameplay is a blend of point-and-click exploration and hidden-object mechanics. Players use the mouse to interact with the environment, searching for hats cleverly tucked away among leaves, mushrooms, and floating decorations. Each cat you help adds a bit of joy to the scene, and the process of restoring order to their tiny world feels quietly rewarding. The puzzles are deliberately uncomplicated, designed to be approachable for players of any age or skill level. It’s not about challenge or precision—it’s about observation, curiosity, and the satisfaction of bringing happiness to the Mushroom Cats. As you progress through the different islands, the tasks become more varied, but the overall design philosophy remains consistent: gentle pacing, accessible interaction, and an emphasis on mood over mechanics. What truly makes Mushroom Cats 2 special is its atmosphere of kindness and sincerity. There is no stress, no failure, and no frustration to be found here. The entire experience is built around positivity and relaxation, encouraging players to take their time and enjoy the small details. The cats greet you with gratitude when you complete their tasks, and the final scenes radiate a quiet sense of fulfillment. This focus on comfort and joy feels increasingly rare in modern gaming, making Mushroom Cats 2 a small yet refreshing antidote to high-stakes, high-pressure experiences. It’s a game that invites you to slow down, breathe, and simply exist within its gentle world for a while. However, its simplicity is both its strength and its limitation. The game can be completed in less than an hour, and once all the hats are found, there is little incentive to replay beyond revisiting its soothing visuals. Players seeking a more substantial challenge or narrative depth might find it too brief. Yet to criticize it for its brevity would be to misunderstand its purpose. Mushroom Cats 2 isn’t trying to compete with larger games; it’s trying to provide a moment of happiness, and in that regard, it succeeds beautifully. Its short length feels intentional—an artistic statement about enjoying small experiences that brighten your day, much like reading a short bedtime story or watching an animated short film. In the end, Mushroom Cats 2 is less a traditional game and more a joyful interactive illustration. It’s a piece of digital art that radiates warmth, humor, and tranquility, designed to make you smile without asking much in return. Anatoliy Loginovskikh has once again captured the spirit of innocence and imagination that defines his work, creating a game that feels handmade and heartfelt. Whether you’re looking for a brief escape, a palette cleanser between larger titles, or a wholesome experience to share with younger players, Mushroom Cats 2 offers an experience that is as pure as it is delightful. It’s a gentle reminder that sometimes, happiness can be found in the smallest, simplest moments—a warm hat on a cold day, a contented cat, and a sky full of floating islands waiting to be explored. Played the first one before this. Must say, it is different! The concept is the same, but in this one there are extra puzzles during levels, which were nice! The first level was the longest one, all the rest were short. Great for 100% achievements. Time to complete: 20 minutes.

Mushroom Cats 2 is a nice little game where you have to find hats and place them on the cats' heads. It's very similar to Mushroom Cats 1, but with more levels. The graphics are nice and the ambient is relaxing. For his low price, it worth it. I recommend it! 😸💗
