This was the first time Dirty Fox Games tackled the visual novel genre and, in many ways, it shows. Compared to their current titles, the artwork for the backgrounds and characters is not as refined as later titles, and it's clear that the script needed more revisions, as there is clunky dialog and a fair few typos. And yet, there's a remarkable quality to this VN that works that's difficult to describe but makes this little game successful at what it's trying to do. The romantic partner Roxy has a pleasant design that makes you immediately want to learn more about her, and the interactions she has with the player characters are charming. The story itself is very short; I was able to finish this game in less than an hour. Yet it never felt like the story was dragging, or that certain scenes were overstaying their welcome. And it has an ending that's not only positive, but satisfying, which is the most you can ask for regarding a narrative game. If you want a quick and cute VN, or if you just want to see how DFG started in their journey to making furry VNs, then I can recommend this one.

NEIGHBOR, GOTH, FURRY. ROXY IS EVERYONE'S DREAM GIRL. Yeah, anyone would want to be friends with a cutie like her. And our protagonist gets that chance. The conversation starts off a bit awkward at first, but once we find the key to this sweetheart’s heart, things take a very interesting turn. The story here is charming and breezy. But the most important thing is the beautiful artwork, especially in hot scenes. The game is short and leaves you in a good mood. I would call it simple but stylish. If you read the review and liked it, don't forget to give it a thumbsup;) The further - The better♥️

You think that just because I masturbate to furry porn I'm a furry? Think again, maggot. The furry fandom is a breeding ground for the most advanced autism this planet has ever seen. Every day, thousands are consumed by a tidal wave of OwO and cancerous roleplaying, and the foundations of our society slowly weaken under the constant onslaught of weapons-grade cringe. Our founding fathers recoil in disgust as people dress up as animals and buy giant dildos on the Internet, fucking each other in sweaty drunken homosexual orgies and traumatizing children in droves. Every second we draw closer to Furry Armageddon, and you sit there saying stupid shit on the Internet. To compare someone to a furry is the most heinous insult imaginable. When your door gets broken down by a rainbow wolf/deer hybrid and you get yiffed into oblivion, then we'll see who's laughing. This is a real threat and it must be treated with extreme solemnity.

Few interactive experiences dare to wade into the treacherous, morally ambiguous waters where My Furry Neighbour paddles with unrepentant gusto. Ostensibly, it masquerades as yet another vapid entry in the fur-saturated pantheon of lascivious visual novels; yet, beneath its fuzzy facade lies a narrative latticework as intricate—and as chaotic—as the subatomic dance within the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) itself. Indeed, playing My Furry Neighbour is not dissimilar to peering into the collision chambers of CERN’s hallowed particle accelerator. Each dialogue choice, each languidly animated paw swipe, each suggestive tail wag, is tantamount to smashing two irreconcilable particles together at relativistic speeds, generating showers of emotional debris and narrative byproducts whose trajectories defy classical prediction. One does not simply play this game; one bears witness to a quantum entanglement of absurdity and introspection. The character writing, while outwardly absurd, oscillates with Heisenbergian uncertainty between the grotesquely caricatural and the disarmingly sincere. The titular Furry Neighbour, both bestial and achingly human, evokes the duality of Schrödinger’s infamous feline: simultaneously cringe-inducing and compelling, repugnant and radiant. This duality is not merely decorative but constitutive of the experience, forcing the player into a superposition of emotional states—amusement, discomfort, reluctant affection—all collapsing into an ambiguous outcome upon every narrative resolution. Mechanically, the game eschews traditional narrative linearity, opting instead for a chaotic branching structure akin to a high-energy particle interaction diagram. Choices reverberate unpredictably, much like the stochastic behavior of quarks under extreme conditions. The consequence is a gameplay loop that feels less like progression and more like a perpetual experiment—a series of collisions with no definitive grand unification, no Higgs boson of narrative satisfaction, only an ever-expanding cloud of interpretive particles. In its most unhinged moments, My Furry Neighbour flirts with the terrifying sublime—the realization that, much like the enigmatic results of CERN’s experiments, there may be no coherent answer to the question of why. Why this neighbour? Why this story? Why this abyssal fusion of eroticism and uncanny anthropomorphism? Perhaps, as with the mysteries of the universe itself, the act of inquiry is the reward, and the answer is forever just beyond the event horizon. In conclusion, My Furry Neighbour is a game that, like the collider, simultaneously affirms and obliterates meaning. It is decadent and defiant, ridiculous and revelatory—a true anomaly in the standard model of lewd gaming, leaving behind not answers, but only the particle-strewn wreckage of your own expectations.

This is the first entry in Dirty Fox Games' "My Furry" series of kinetic novels, and...I have mixed opinions about it. The story's short, with my own time so far being roughly 80 minutes, which is what the pitch on the store page states is about right. However, this game currently includes Steam Trading Cards and those don't tend to start dropping until past the two-hour mark to ensure that the game isn't just refunded once they're obtained, so I'll either need to keep this idling in the background or run through the whole thing another time or two to obtain them. Another thing the store page mentions is "Multiple Choice Options", which is a bit of a falsehood; this is a Kinetic Novel with only two choices to make, the first of which has literally no effect on the story, and the second of which does offer a minor divergence and slightly different images before the routes reconnect a minute later and it's the same narrative for the remaining hour or so. Speaking of images, another selling point is "HD, fully original artwork". With the uncensored DLC, there's roughly four distinct "intimate" scenes with full images for the in-game gallery. However the images in each scene are mostly variants on each other: Roxy in her underwear, Roxy in the same pose without clothes, Roxy without clothes and now blushing, so on and so forth. Roxy is also the only girl in the game (and the only character with a portrait at all, with only three "outfits": black top and skirt, black underwear, and nude), so if you're not fond of her design, you're probably not going to enjoy looking at her from different angles. Honestly, if that was all, I'd consider this just a "unmemorable-but-decent" story. However, what's giving me mixed feelings is the "hidden traumas" also advertised, because...well, it's a huge tonal clash. The entire story takes place over three in-setting days, and it's on day two that Roxy, the titular Furry Neighbour, feels like she trusts you enough to admit both how her absent father never even wanted her to be born and she had a mental breakdown and stabbed her last boyfriend for cheating on her . "Love at first sight" be darned, that is some DARK backstory to drop on someone you've known for a day, and it completely conflicts with the rest of the story, which can be summarised as "manic pixie dream girl enters the life of a guy stuck in a routine, guy encourages girl not to give up on what she truly desires when she has doubts, both are better as a result". Ah, and before I forget, there's also the occasional typo in this story too; a few actions that are presented as someone speaking them, one "realizee" with one too many e's, but nothing too confusing. So, in conclusion, I definitely would not buy this game at full price, even if you're the type to refund games if you can clear them within the two-hour refund window. What tips the line into being Recommended is the simple fact that it's frequently on sale for less than a dollar CDN. Everybody needs good neighbours, but I'll compromise if the rent is cheap.
