Neon Chrome is a huge tower that over a million people call home. The tower is run by Neon Corp, led by the Overseer. Today is another day when I try to infiltrate his headquarters. The guards never sleep and most corridors are dark and quiet, but still dangerous. My energy shield glows softly around me and it doesn't even stand out because the place is full of neon lights, with almost every room filled with some sort of machinery and computers. All I have is a shotgun and a few grenades to help me overcome the various formidable opponents standing in my way. I occasionally stumble across new enhancements to install, some of them very helpful, although I have a feeling that I'm one bad decision away from turning myself into scrap. In actuality, I'm having way too much fun pushing higher, getting stronger and seeing how far I can make it this time. Somewhere up there, there's always another bad guy waiting for me. It looks like I'm the last hope of overthrowing the Overseer, so I might as well keep going. Wish me luck, because I'm the last man standing in this vicious place. And I may fall, but I will never stop.
I had this game ages ago on PS+ and loved it so when I spotted it on steam on sale I had to get it. This Dual stick top down shooter feels like it wants to bring back the fun of old 8 and 16 bit games. It feels a bit like gauntlet crossed with smash tv and a few other things thrown in for good measure. I like how they did the game progression, so that every time you die you get your cash to help level up stats so then next time you play you could have increased stats, or perhaps just buy the starting weapons or special abilities you prefer to use, so it saves you hoping you find that weapon or power up whilst playing. I also like how once you complete the game, your now on level 2 of it, same game, just the enemies are not turned up a bit and things are that bit harder. This kept me coming back and playing more and more to see how many levels there are to it all. I am currently on the 4th and I think there might be 5 in total. If your looking for a solo player game that you can loose hours and hours on each time you play then this is for you.
Cool cyberpunk roguelike shooter. The graphics are a bit basic but they have a nice low poly charm. This game would have fit right in as a downloadable game back on the Xbox 360. Shootouts are chaos with excellent sound effects, gore, level destruction and once you earn a few perks and upgrades you feel really powerful. My last run i had a laser SMG with a 200 round magazine which could be reloaded in less than a second. Kind of an underrated gem.
