BEWARE before getting into this game: to get all the possible endings you must beat and rape "the girl" in a few scenes. Otherwise, how would you get a few of the bad endings? :) This is a post-apocalyptic adult visual novel which I would describe as a psychological/emotional thriller. There's some "black mirror-esque" plot twists that make this VN a very interesting one, especially towards the end. The protagonist is a narcissist bastard and the girl eventually develops Stockholm syndrome, resulting in a very toxic interaction most of the time. They're stuck in an underground facility with maze-like branches throughout >97% of the game and you'll end up getting a feeling of claustrophobia from this - believe me, you will. There's occasional typos and noticeable lack of english skills by the translator but none to the point of making any scene incomprehensible. The 2 unlockable side-stories (read only) were not translated and you can't copy the Chinese text to the clipboard, so we're missing out on that. Also, there's no explicit nudity. Why do I recommend this novel after all? Well, to put it simple, it makes you go on an internal rollercoaster. That's what you want when reading a novel, to be hooked by the story in a good or bad way and for it to mess a bit with your mind. This VN achieves it, so I DO feel it is worth the price even if it ends up being a sado-masochistic and overwhelming mental experience. Very well done. Now excuse me while I TRY to relax and fight the insomnia this has brought upon me.

7/10. A push for gameplay in a medium largely bereft of it and a story with interesting lore and surprising twists are thwarted by a poor translation and uncertainty on where perception ends and reality begins. First: There's some post-story content that is currently untranslated. I made a machine translation for it, which you can find if you check the Steam guides for the game. I strongly recommend not looking at it until after you've completed the full story (it won't make a lick of sense otherwise), but it should be mentioned. ... It is my understanding that visual novels are called "adventure games" in Japan. As strange as it seems, even the scant few choices one makes are enough to qualify as gameplay. Our End of the World (henceforth Our End) is somewhat niche in that it does have a "real" gameplay element, in addition to the standard VN content. It's no Danganronpa or Zero Escape, but the difference should be mentioned up-front. Presentation: Not very impressive. The backgrounds are okay, not great. There's only ever one character shown during the game; her art isn't bad, but also isn't special in any way. The music is pretty nice (the main menu music is incredibly relaxing). The game always starts in windowed mode: you can change it to fullscreen (I just used Alt+Enter), but be warned there are certain segments where you'll need to enter information, and the position of the text box (or rather, where you put your mouse to select the text box) seems off in fullscreen. I had to jump back to windowed mode during these segments. They're made more troublesome by the fact that it "checks" your solution when you press Enter (like pressing enter on a password box), and at least one puzzle gives you only one chance to solve it before failing you. You'll likely be saving frequently enough for other reasons, but be aware of this limitation. Gameplay: There are two, maybe three main types of "gameplay" here. 1) Traditional VN choices 2) Sections where you must pick a correct sequence of actions to take (like dining, chatting, having fun, etc), and 3) Light puzzles where you're presented with information and later must use it to solve a puzzle. The VN choices are mostly used to send you on broad, overarching archs, the action-picking sections typically lead (quickly) to alternate or bad ends, and the puzzles are usually pass/fail with a bad end directly afterwards. The first of these is fine. The last is mostly fine, though there was one puzzle I looked up a solution for (and I don't think I would been able to solve it, just because the way it used the information given beforehand seems so weird). The second of these is where issues arise. The problem is that there's only one critical path through the action choices, and there are extremely limited hints on what actions to take. You're presented with 5 different options, and usually have to choose between them at least 5-6 times during a "chapter" - that's 5^5 or over 3,000 options. There are just too many permutations to brute-force things, and with a-few-but-simply-not-enough hints on what to do, I wasn't interested in banging my head against a wall. I tried several times during the first chapter to progress, but eventually gave up and wound up using a walkthrough. Story: The store page has the premise - the world has ended, and the MC and a girl are the only survivors. Pretty much everything in this story should be experienced directly, rather than beforehand, so I'll avoid detailed discussion. There are a couple points that need to be mentioned, however. The first is translation. It's pretty poor. It's enough to get the gist of what's going on, but detail is lost, and there were moments in particular where what was meant to be an "emotional" scene was harmed by flat writing, or overly emotional language was used during a fairly neutral scene. It absolutely hinders the experience. My second criticism is a mild spoiler, so if you're already set on getting this you may want to avoid it. Anyway: it's possible for something to be too much of a mind screw. This story does that near the end, and the portion afterwards doesn't do a very good job of explaining the differences between one's initial perception of the story and one's "post-twist" understanding. The untranslated novels only make this worse: the first is set during the same period as the game yet seems to present a third perspective, to the point that I wasn't sure where the truth was anymore; the second is after the game, and uses characters from the main story in confusing ways, while also introducing new elements that aren't clear. This definitely feels like an experience with meaningfully mind-bending lore behind it, like Himawari or Yoko Toro's stuff, but very poor translation and general lack of clarity of where the truth really lies make it difficult to appreciate the impact of any of the story.

If I was half believing this would be a good game at the start, now I'm 100% sure of it. This visual novel has an interesting setting/plot, and mystery that keeps you thinking. I especially like the different endings. The only issues I would say are that replaying parts of the game to get different endings can get tedious, and that there are a lot of spelling/grammatical mistakes. The first issue can be somewhat addressed by saving regularly and utilizing the skip functionality, and the second one doesn't really bother me, but may bother others if you're picky about that sort of thing. Overall I recommend this visual novel because not only is it interesting, but it is also very affordable, even at full price. One last note, I have more playtime then it says I do. Oh, and another note, I still have over half the endings left and it was worth the money for the content I got so far alone.

I think it would be good to write a review in English. This is a game with great replay value and I highly recommend it to English-speakers as well. I think it is almost impossible to get things ringt the first time, and you have to try mulitple times to get that good end (which I haven't got one yet sad) The major trick with this game is that you have to place yourself in others' shoes. Doing what you think is right might not be the best for others, a part that gives this game a great replay value. But I mean the art is pretty good what else do you expect? You got a cute anime girl >.< A good game to heal my emotional traumas from doki doki literature club ==Chinese review (contains spoilers)== 说实话觉得是个很好的游戏,很有replay价值。
