I mean… Even as a self-certified pro puzzle-platformer-adventure gamer ™, Out of Sight is… Pretty good . The idea of having this “2nd person perspective” as THE GAMEPLAY for a game is a very fascinating concept for, what I feel, would’ve been yet another generic, repetitive, or dare I say: "little nightmares-slop" game that’s lowkey kinda starting to swarm the Steam store tbh. And it literally goes to the point where you have the same-vibe puzzle sections BUT IN 2ND PERSON, same-vibe “hide and seek” sections BUT IN 2ND PERSON, same-vibe chase sequences BUT IN 2ND PERSON, same-vibe atmosphere and artstyle BUT IN 2ND PERSON, and… Yea… That's pretty much it… Nothing much to shout about tbh aside from one mechanic where you have the ability to destroy certain stuff in the puzzle sections by staring at things menacingly, or how this game kinda has ZERO loading screens by hiding it all through these kinda daunting and slow “vent-crawling” sections that somehow got night vision right in games, surprisingly. So, for the most part, I think it’s pretty enjoyable! Just that, I think, the biggest problem with the game is how it doesn’t have that MUCH of a deep lore or a very complex and thought-provoking story to it unlike Little Nightmares, nor a bigger roster of enemies also unlike Little Nightmares, nor had much variety of gameplay mechanics unlike Little Nightmares, nor a much scarier/horror-ier vibe to it unlike Little Nightmares and its successor: Little Nightmares III Reanimal. Although, the DLC did kinda address some of those complaints by adding more puzzle mechanics like the “inspired by RE7” shadow puzzle mechanic, adding a slightly different “hide and seek” sequences, and an extra story beat that somewhat adds lore to this game. So yea, at this point I’m just nitpicking, but still… I think the game (or perhaps the sequel? Perhaps?) could’ve added more to those nitpicks that I have to at least make it be a more interesting game, me thinks. All in all, considering the unique 2nd person perspective gameplay, it being yet another "good" Little Nightmares-like game, and its price (especially when it’s on discount), I think Out of Sight is a pretty good game for people like me who are into those stuff! Juuuuuust that I wish it was longer and/or had more stuff to it for me to enjoy it even more tbh. But, hey, that’s just my opinion. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Fun but pretty basic puzzle game, the voice acting is good enough though falls of in certain events, the worst part of the puzzles are when someone else is present in the room since moving anything takes a while due to them hearing everything it tends to slow down gameplay, graphics and story telling at its best.
Teddy sees everything! That's how you could describe the game principle. We see everything from the perspective of a teddy bear. We control both a girl named Sophie, who wears a blindfold due to certain events, and the teddy's field of vision, whereby you have to work with both controller sticks, which works quite well. When Sophie holds Teddy in her arms, it plays like a first person game, when she puts him down at certain points you see Sophie from a fixed third person view. Wir steuern sowohl ein Mädchen namens Sophie, das aufgrund bestimmter Ereignisse eine Augenbinde trägt und das Sichtfeld des Teddys, wobei man mit beiden Controller Sticks arbeiten muss, was allerdings recht gut funktioniert. Wenn Sophie Teddy in ihren Armen hält spielt es sich wie ein First Person Spiel, wenn sie ihn an bestimmten Punkten absetzt sieht man Sophie aus einer fixierten Dritten Person Ansicht. Die Puzzle sind nicht zu schwer, um ein paar Geheimnisse zu entdecken muss man sich allerdings teils gut umschauen. Über einen zweiten Teil würde ich mich freuen.
As much as I want to play horror games, I usually can't handle them. I get scared way too easily and often end up quitting before I finish. This game was different. The game gave me strong Little Nightmares and Coraline vibes, which immediately pulled me in. It has that creepy fairy tale atmosphere that feels unsettling without being overwhelming. What really got me was Sophie. Playing as a little girl who can't see and relies on her teddy bear to be her eyes made me sad. It added an emotional layer to the story that I wasn't expecting and made me care about what happened to her. The graphics are beautiful, the atmosphere was fantastic, the puzzles were challenging enough to be fun without becoming frustrating. I always felt like I could figure things out if I paid attention. I can see my kids enjoying this game as well. It has that perfect balance of spooky and story-driven moments. The one thing I wasn't prepared for was the ending. I spent the entire game hoping Sophie would get a happy ending, but instead I was even left with more questions than answers. Even after the credits rolled, I found myself wondering what really happened to her. If you are someone who loves creepy storybook adventures, atmospheric puzzles, and emotional storytelling, I would absolutely recommend this game.
