Just made a 317 yard albatross off the tee, par 4. Couldn't see anything in the replay. 2k21 offered multiple angles, these games seem to get worse with time unfortunately. Maybe they should actually hire competent developers, try paying them what they're worth!

Sport slop at its finest. The kind of game that passes for 100% of the console golfer bros, with all their favorite corprately sponsered golfer pros and vapidity to boot. If this wasn't the only decent golf game with an active community making new courses, I would absolutely leave this game behind and turn to those fabled greener pastures of creative golf games. Until then, enjoy a reworked 2k21 for 60 bucks. sigh

It's decent. Nice looks, mechanics are pretty good. Some annoyances: micro transactions for stuff that should just be in the game (sponsored stuff) Can't turn off the instant replays of NPCs The Whole golfer, locker room thing is basically set up as a shop

First three holes of TPC Louisiana went Birdie, Eagle then my first Hole In One! lol. Bought it here on special over a year ago for $22 AU. Waiting for 2K25 price to come down. Ultra settings with my 4090 look beautiful. Love this game.

While it doesn’t completely reinvent the game, it adds just enough flash, accessibility, and star power to feel like a meaningful evolution. For golf fans—casual or hardcore—this is a worthy follow-up with solid improvements. The core swing mechanics remain satisfyingly tight, but now with a major addition: Three-Click Swing controls return alongside the existing analog swing system. For those more comfortable with timing bars than thumbstick finesse, this is a welcome option that lowers the barrier to entry without compromising depth. The tempo system, swing difficulty, and shot shaping mechanics continue to offer realism and challenge for sim purists. Smart difficulty scaling means PGA TOUR 2K23 can be as casual or as cutthroat as you want it to be. Play as Pros: Finally! Real-life pros are now playable—not just rivals in Career Mode. Legends like Tiger Woods, Justin Thomas, Lexi Thompson, and more are available, giving the game some much-needed personality. Female pros are now represented too, a long-overdue step toward inclusivity. Topgolf Mode: Yes, that Topgolf. It’s a flashy, fun, arcade-style minigame that’s perfect for parties or warmups. It won’t replace a real round, but it’s a clever, accessible distraction. MyPLAYER Progression & Customization: 2K leans into the RPG-lite style progression here, with skill trees, archetypes, and stat boosts. It adds long-term depth, but also veers slightly into “sports game grind” territory, especially with optional in-game purchases. Still, the customization options—from apparel to club fitting—are deeper than ever. Career Mode returns with a more polished structure and the option to play as your MyPLAYER or a real pro. You’ll climb the ranks, earn sponsors, and compete in licensed events like the FedEx Cup. However, the presentation still feels a bit dry—there’s no narrative, rivalries, or real broadcast energy to give it momentum. You’ll have fun working your way through the season, but you may wish it had more personality or variation in commentary and cutscenes. Visually, PGA TOUR 2K23 looks sharper than its predecessor, with better lighting, smoother animations, and improved crowd behavior. The courses—especially the licensed ones like TPC Scottsdale and St. George’s Golf & Country Club—look fantastic, with great environmental detail and beautiful foliage. Commentary is adequate but still repetitive over time. The ambient sound—clubs hitting balls, birds chirping, galleries reacting—is where the audio shines most. The Course Designer remains one of the best features in the game. It’s still powerful, still community-driven, and still a rabbit hole of creativity. Thousands of custom courses, fantasy layouts, and real-world recreations await—and they’re easier than ever to browse and play. Online multiplayer supports matchmaking, societies (custom clubs), and cross-platform content sharing. Lag is minimal, and the asynchronous multiplayer remains a strong choice for time-conscious players. Where It Falls Short: -Career Mode presentation remains flat compared to other sports sims. -Monetization through VC (Virtual Currency) can make MyPLAYER progression feel grindy. -Commentary and pro interaction still lack drama or emotional weight. -While improved, visuals and UI still don’t quite hit top-tier polish. PGA TOUR 2K23 is the best golf game on the market today—one that successfully blends simulation accuracy with broader accessibility and a dash of 2K-style flair. It’s a confident, content-rich step forward for the series, with thoughtful additions like Topgolf, skill trees, and playable pros. While there’s still room to grow—especially in career presentation and polish—this is a must-play for golf fans, and a great entry point for newcomers looking to take a swing at the sport. Whether you’re chasing birdies or designing bunkers, PGA TOUR 2K23 is a round well worth playing. Rating: 8/10
