Lana and Mui are back Another good game! Surprisingly, there is some real story development happening in the later half, and by the endgame, I actually found myself pretty invested in the narrative for Lana and Mui at the end. :D Gameplay-wise, it keeps the chill vibe but introduces a few fun new mechanics like running and swimming (deep dives), which is a really nice addition to their journey. (solving puzzles) Note for new players: You don't actually need to play the first game to jump into this one. There is a very helpful recap of Lana and Mui's previous adventures right at the start. Definitely recommend it!

Well, it’s no surprise that Planet of Lana II: Children of the Leaf improves upon the first game in certain elements, particularly how amazing it looks with its pastel colors and the art style embedded into the game. However, I cannot say that the gameplay has improved much over the first one, since there isn’t much to do or interact with apart from some puzzles. I somehow feel like I liked the first one better, or at least its premise. I still remember the desert scene where you ride the robot, but in the second one I fail to recall such iconic moments. It often felt like I was always pushing the stick to the right for 30 seconds, then a cutscene appears. I move five seconds, another cutscene. Move 15 seconds, another cutscene. These constant breaks really hurt the immersion. Either they should be much less frequent, or the scenes should be presented with more grandeur instead of very short clips where the screen fades to black, returns to gameplay, and then fades again into another cutscene. It becomes quite annoying after a while. I also felt like Lana was a bit more irritating in this game and I didn’t like the main character as much. On the other hand, Mui and Temati, the robot, were excellent, and I really liked those moments and how the message was conveyed. Overall, I’m glad I played it, and I would definitely be interested in a third game and would love to see where the story goes if it ever happens, because the world will likely change completely. For me, it’s around a 7 out of 10.

Wishfully has no right to exceed the fans' expectations by THIS MUCH. Sincerely, a sequel done right and stays faithful and true to the original and the very first that started it all: Planet Of Lana. I've finished and 100% both the first game and the sequel, and I must say: "THANK YOU THE DEVS OF WISHFULLY, US ACHIEVEMENT HUNTERS WERE LEGIT AT YOUR MERCY" lmfao I'm seriously so grateful and glad Wishfully did not do what Limbo did for THAT ONE GNARLY AF AND ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING ACHIEVEMENT. For those of you who want to 100% the game with ease, here's definitely one for you. In fact, way better than the first one, as you could get all the achievements in one run if played slightly more careful and attentive. Now, the review of Planet Of Lana 2 begins. Is it worth it first of all? ABSOLUTELY. If you've played the first one, you have no reason not to get the sequel (unless cuz of financial issue... I understand that) I got the game as soon as it was released a few days ago and I wasn't at all disappointed by it, not even close. That is not to say though, that Planet Of Lana 2 is perfect in every aspect, because it sure as Lana's character development in this game, ain't lmao Let's get some of the minor criticisms outta the way first before we start praising the game for all the things done wondrously. I must add though these criticisms really did not take away how I felt about playing the game and my time with it, I definitely still love POL2 a lot. POL2 definitely lacks quite the majestic and epic sceneries when compared to the first game. Sure, you have a few scenes here and there such as when you bare witness the sheer scale and grandeur world of the 'Utopia', and the beauty of the Wemari Forest, but those weren't frequent settings you encounter in the game, meaning to you can only see them briefly in sub-chapters of the game. You will spend most of the game in places deep beneath the earth surrounded by forsaken civilizations, ruins under the ocean, and tight crawl-spaces or alleyways deep under megastructures and facilities. And those weren't exactly the places you will take your moment, look around and say: "Damn good visuals and epic views!" But, when the epic sceneries did take place in POL2, they sure as heck were EPIC. Another thing that maybe took some fun out for me was the janky ahh controls of the game. I used a PS4 controller to play on my laptop, and boy the wall climb and jump was terrible for me, and the maintained agility for sudden turn-arounds for the character's direction was nonexistent lol, it's like if you are running to the right, all of a sudden when you wanna turn left, the character just stops moving suddenly lol, instead of maintaining the running or hasty movements. OST's were phenomenal, but the first one had it better, especially Siobhan Wilson's singing near the end of the first game. POL2's OSTs' just seemed a bit... lackluster. The main theme is definitely goated still. Puzzles could be annoying for some instances, but not ones that will upset you on an astronomical level like in Limbo lmao so that's fine by me. When Lana took Rakuen's staff at Chap 7, I fr thought Wishfully was gonna do combat! But I was a bit disappointed to find out there was no actions or combat elements either in the sequel. It would be great to be able to fight Rakuen's killer with the staff ya know? (Though the boss fight this time around was absolutely peaked compared to the first one, actual loads of missiles flying towards a young girl's face is wild fr) But yeah, I think that's about the only minor complaints I've had. Now moving to compliments! The biggest praise I have is definitely dedicated to the writing and the story of Planet Of Lana 2. The amount of lore drop in the sequel is insane, with no words uttered throughout the game, yet you will still understand almost fully what's going on. The story details between POL1 and 2 linked up so well, it made sense, and it's not out of place. I especially enjoyed the little side chapters detailing the past stories for Mui and Temati. Those chapters felt... powerful and very much required for the game to convey its messages and feelings towards the players. Gameplay-wise, definitely introduced a few more brilliant gameplay mechanics, and utilized even more environmental elements to go about solving each puzzles. I loved the Rollers the most! They are seriously SO CUTE!! Anua is also such an adorable character with the way she walks haha! First few chapters were definitely more lighthearted and loosely paced, after the Drill Tower sub-chapter, the pacing started to pick up, and more weighted, and you started to feel this sense of urgency playing as Lana. So conclusion, 10/10, I enjoyed most of my moments in the game, a faithful and beautifully crafted sequel. The devs cared about doing Planet Of Lana the justice it deserved, nothing felt perfunctory. Not a cash grab AT ALL lol (a negative review said that, I was like fr? Lemme play it myself to find out) Do yourself a favor and play both POL1 AND 2!! <3

Unforgettable theme that plays into the story continues in this sequel. Just a beautiful game all around. Love me some story driven puzzle platformers and this one does not disappoint. Can't wait for the next installment.
