it took me 39 hours to finally beat the game. there's no permanant upgrades. i just got more familiar with the game and used what the game gave me to it's highest potential. it was beautiful. in no other rougelike have i been able to come up with so many different janky builds and in no other rougelike can you so thuroughly break the game and still lose. it's still challenging even after you get the perfect set of mutations and cells. which again, i find beautiful
Noita x Spore Very in-depth mechanics that are told through visual cues; A lot of things can be learned by watching and inspecting other creatures, see how they behave and how they use their abilities. Limitless Customization: It might say "Fish Builder" but nothing stops you from making a literal spaceship that fire 17 lasers at the same time. Difficulty: It's variable. It's hard and easy, the choice is through how you play the game. YOu can make the game harder by playing a very complex feesh or go easy with a highly simple spiked ball with 3 layers of defenses who can easily shred enemies in 3 seconds. Variety: The cell combo is insanely fun and interesting. The perks (Although few) are all different from one another. No restriction on cell placements (besides the grid placement, obviously) Visuals: Prettiest game I have seen in a looooong time. Beautiful colours, beautiful particles, great animations. On a side note, the audio is amazing and very unique. The bad: The usual roguelike downside of "Your run is over already because the game didn't give you ANY cell that will help you get past the first biome's barrier. Controls get very funky at times. A lot of bouncing and getting stuck in one another.
I think it's finally time to review this thing ; ) This is easily one of the most promising games of its niche. I'm sure you've heard part of this before, but it's somewhere between Spore cell stage, Reassembly, and Noita. Basically you'll be spending most of your time learning and relearning what you thought you learned, at least for a good while! You're going to randomly die, often times to your own hubris, and lose your hours-long run to some jank because this game is EARLY in development. And yet, it still manages to be one of the most compelling games of its kind out right now, and it shows no signs of stopping with the improving and refining. It's a game where you can sort of throw everything at the wall and see what sticks, and eventually find cohesive strategies and designs that carry you to the end of the game. Overall, you'll have the best time playing this if you focus less on playing it like a roguelike and more like you're an actual force of evolution trying to see what works in this hostile-ass environment. Most species go extinct... You'll find out why.
okay listen.... I know we live in a time when we can just "look it up." But don't, just play it and figure it out. You get to have these little moments where you put something together and go "oh my god it works" before you inevitably add something and break the whole thing and fix it again and rinse and repeat. I am addicted to this game. There is so much more to this game then you think. Listen to a stranger online and BUY THIS GAME AND PLAY IT AND ENJOY IT. Also, and you will get this once you play it enough, BEYBLADE LET IT RIP.
