June 2025
Let me give you a description of this 2005 game. This is made by that Ubisoft which actually cared about gamers. Story This game is a direct continuation of Warrior Within's canon-ending (Water Sword Ending). Here, Prince has various goals throughout the game and fixates it to killing Vizier just before getting the dagger of time. Interestingly, Prince undergoes into positive character development as the game progresses where he starts to become humble from the frustrated and selfish character. Instead of me explaining the complete story, it would be better to experience it by yourself. Gameplay The gameplay is simple with some emphasis to ability usage. You need to traverse through different areas in the game through impossible parkour and while doing this, you fight with sand soldiers. Compared to WW, they have some boss battles which is lesser in number than WW which is a good change as they sometimes felt exhausting and boring. There are these Dark Prince sections which will make you think and move fast else you will die if not completed fast enough. Combat They added the ability to "Speed Kill" where you have to click on the right timings for killing single or double enemies silently. The combat is mostly same as WW. This game has a complex 2 hand weapon combat system where you do various different combo according to the button press order. There is a high emphasis on combo attacks which helps you to kill enemies faster. In addition to this, you have entirely different attack combos which includes his signature chain whip when in Dark Prince mode which is absolutely fun to execute. Abilities They reduced the number of abilities for player simplicity as most players didn't bother to use most of them in WW. They kept Slow Motion unchanged and Rewind is still the most important in the game. Movement The movement in this game is smooth. The transition between Prince walking and wall running is super smooth and this is what you do for the most of the game. They added new traversal objects which are unique to Dark Prince like the chain whip jumps and chain whip wall run which added some cool factor to the Dark Prince sections. Puzzles They had puzzles with similar difficulty as WW. The Royal Workshop level's puzzle is very annoying as it requires you to climb, jump, climb, jump and do a lot of platforming to exact same place so that you can move the big statue towards the door. I did it fairly easily but an inexperienced gamer might suffer a lot in this part. Conclusion Get this game on 80% off. And complete it. This game has some issues while running the game on modern hardware. So, check the fixes below to ensure the best experience possible. Recommended Fixes 1. Widescreen Fix : [url=https://mega.nz/file/WEoWXaxZ#YBu3pugXDpR5iQvCKqxcAXHE8Bn3RKKjXFpuxWPzXZc] Link The game stretches horizontally and has a weird FOV when playing on modern resolutions. This fix will ensure you play at true 16:9 or some other resolutions. 2. Limit FPS to 60 : This will eliminate most of the animation, traversal and cutscene audio desync related bugs as this game was not designed to run at high framerate. 3. Screen Goes White During Gameplay Just turn off Anti Aliasing (MSAA) from in-game and enable it from Nvidia Control Panel.

Still a very good game but unfortunately the weakest entry in the trilogy. They brought in a lot of new systems like extra platforming stuff, an option to stealth, and the Dark Prince's transformations. Stealth and the Dark Prince especially feel way too rigid and scripted, which makes sense given that they were trying to make an open world game at first and scratched that project. The skeletons of that idea are very visible and it's such a shame they remain unexplored. They did the best they could, but Warrior Within and Sands of Time are by far more polished and soulful. Also, the fact that when you're playing with a controller but the game has no idea what diagonal movement is, so it registers as walking very slowly either forward or to one of the sides got me killed so many times. Again, still a very good game, but playing it back to back with its two predecessors in 2025, it's severely overshadowed.

Let's be real here. The game is almost two decades old. Worse yet, it's a 3D game that is almost two decades old. You're looking at this page for nostalgia's sake or to complete the series. That being said, PoP: The Two Janks is a janky game. Getting it to read your controller can be a bit of a tussle. The simplest way I found was to find a popular community layout. It still won't read your controller until you go into the game menu and set the controller settings to "default" - populating all the empty fields with the settings that should have been there already. Gameplay is jank. I really appreciate the various combos they give you. If only enemies weren't block-happy, then I might use them more. Movement is jank. The Prince is very picky on lining up jumps. You'll get used to it. Yet, the game is still a good time. The best part is the platforming, as simple as they are. I wish there were more games like this. Music is full of bangers and it looks pretty good for such an older game. Playing on Steam Deck and using FSR will help sharpen the image. Yuri Lowenthal continues to voice my childhood. The story is a simple adventure romp but still fun. Only real complaint is the Dark Prince stuff (besides the ending). His chain should have been standard kit and his transformation should have be a toggle. How it is in the game is more annoying than anything. Can't really give a score for something like this, so let's say it's a "Nostalgia out of 10." It's about 9 hours long.
