Oh boy, where to start ... let's begin with the tldr summary: The game should be called Pro AI Shenanigans Manager 2025. My impression of the game is MIXED but recommended. If you would play because you're a cycling enthusiast you might end up disappointed, but it still has redeeming qualities. >> UPDATE at 367 hours: I learned to deal with the shenanigans. It's not nearly as bad then. Also, it seems that the worlddb mod, while adding flavor, also adds bugs, that's not on the game. The longer version: Career doesn't attract me as much, so I'm talking about Pro Cyclist (single rider mode). But I'm sure much of this applies on career as well. The AI is broken - The ENTIRE pack will sprint, not just those with an interest to do so. + If you mismanage your effort you're not just 20th instead of top 3, but it's likely you end up around 100th, which usually means you can forget any GC results + Sprints not in your terrain are usually a waste of time, riders in 70th+ position will drain their bars to steal points from you. Even your own team mates will sprint against you + There are stages where there are a lot of sprints close after one another, that means the AI will pretty much go through the entire the stage at full sprint. Yes, that's possible - Effort management, the green, red and yellow bars, is only important for you and your team The AI can (and will) do incredibly dumb things with impunity. Real life you would fall flat, or in some flagrant cases get fired, with PCM they just bounce back and compete for the stage win. + The entire pack is a High Mountain specialist + You drain AI riders in the moment, not over an entire stage like real life + The game breaks its own rules when it comes to yellow bar. Downhill means little physical effort, which usually means you recover yellow bar (if your max and green bar isn't too drained). Sometimes it doesn't though, I mean, the map could show the road as an obvious downhill, but you're still burning yellow. - The game can be very anti-player, not by intent, but poor design (imho) + The AI will do everything they can to bring you back after a breakaway (attempt), not so much for AI GC candidates + The AI is absolutely fine with letting a breakaway NOT with you in it take 20 minutes in a high mountain stage. Yes, that means that if you are leading the GC you can forget about that unless you do something about it. By itself, that's fine and realistic, however, other GC candidates shouldn't be fine to ALSO be put at an 18 minutes disadvantage All this is baffling for a franchise as old as PCM. General nuisances - There's a slow motion mechanic near the finish. In my opinion this is a total abomination that only serves to irritate you and rub on how badly you mismanaged your effort bars. Even when winning it annoys me > this MUST go! - You can't simulate the race once actively playing. Yes you can speed up to x8, but that's not entirely harmless by itself. And, the race only finishes when either the last rider crossed the line or the DNF timer is done. As riders can be put back an in-game 30 minutes or more, that's still a long wait, especially if you're eager to know what your GC progress is. - The difficulty settings are deceptive. Easy is NOT easy. You still have to build up your neo prof into a solid rider, which will take a LONG time if you don't yet know what you're supposed to be doing. Yes, that's realistic, but it requires min maxing and a lot of time. There is MUCH the game doesn't explain. - The game feels more like an arcade than a sim. You play against the AI, not against real life cycling mechanics. Again, this can be fine, up to your personal opinion. - I am not a fan of the yearly update model, that usually means actual improvements don't carry on to the earlier versions, meaning you're either stuck or have to pay again for bug fixes that should have been implemented retroactively. I'm not with the game long enough to know how Cyanide handles this, but I don't have high hopes from general experience. - A minor one, but the game is QUIET! Sure, there's the crowd, but you hardly notice it while focused on the game. Not a big issue, but some (toggleable) music would be good. The good Let's end with the positive notes - The graphics are GORGEOUS! They really convey how you're going through an actual world - The stages are well-crafted (there are a few bad exceptions, but hush). The many epic real world stages are translated really well - The UI is really good. - The general FEEL of cycling is definitely there. Sadly the actual gameplay doesn't do this justice to the same degree * The verdict I'm 183 in, so I guess I must like it enough to keep playing. Seriously though, it's a very frustrating game at times. It generally feels to me you need to game the game, rather than play it. Which is a shame. Overall the game has a lot of potential, but its decades old, so I am not hopeful that will be realised. Yes, it's a small studio, but they should behave like that more. I posted on their steam page, with no interaction, also for questions of other people. I hope it's because they're busy doing bug fixes, not because they don't care ... That said, when you DO figure stuff out and when you actually do things right, a win can feel quite EPIC! I got the game at a 30% discount, for me, that was absolutely fine. If I paid more I'd have the feeling I'd overpaid, though. I think a MIXED rating of 6.5/10 is fair. Can the game be irritating? Yes. Will I keep playing? Yes.

Largely a good upgrade especially the new sliders Stage creation has seen a downgrade, not just small stages, races like the tdf have stages with 10+ corners in the final 5km or the finish line in a corner. The game doesnt care if you have the inside line or about racing lines. On the new engine the corners seem to have gotten even more sluggish resulting in corners doing the opposite of real life as it bunches up the group instead of making opportunities to attack

The game's good. Graphics and cyclist behaviors are way better than before, it can be an interesting challenge. It has been fun for more than 95 hours to me. I'ev liked the Pro Cyclist mode so far. The only frustrating thing is that the peloton's IA regarding Grand Tours breakaways can sometimes let 30 great climbers take 17 minutes even if they're only 4 minutes late in GC. I've been stolen 2 Tours de France this way... There aren't that many custom databases yet because I think it became harder to do (or it change a lot since last version which made it harder to duplicate the DB from an earlier version)

Guys please, seriously, allow me to change the keybinds. No way a game in 2025 should require a numpad :D

I was enjoying the game with a smaller contineltal team, until I hit 1st. of august, and the tranfers came, I really looked forward to improve my team, but when it came to the contract talks, my balance was already -50k, So I could not even extend with my current riders. I've won races, finished okay, and not made any unnecessary investments. Is this a bug? and how it is now fixed yet. Other people must have had the same issue? Is it impossible to manage smaller teams from the start of the game?
