This game caught my attention when I saw a flying mecha and many targets. As others have stated, the story is a little all over the place, but this game is not story centered, as it just allows to progress with a little narrative between stages. The gameplay is fun! You have different machines that feel different to control and with noticeable firepower changes. The music is good. Difficulty can be adjusted from easy to a real challenge!

Reminds me of Zone of the Enders and some other underground cool mecha game that I used to play during 2007 or so.

The best way to describe this game is as follows; If a Gundam-fanfic writer wanted to play Ace Combat but with Gundams. Most of the tropes of an almost classical Gundam story or mecha-story are here; Your protag is the super-mega-powerful but prototype mecha, wanes about needing to fight despite being in the very strong prototype mecha, and there's some pseudo-not-really explained psychic-like powers going on. You do though get to see the other side of the conflict via playing the other protag in her super-mega-powerful but experimental mecha, which is a neat concept, mostly seeing the other-side of a war, in these types of games. Gameplay wise, I joked it was Ace Combat, and while partly true, it fits more describing a very looser version of Zone of Enders with cooldown abilities. In essence; You sort-of dogfight against other vehicles, mechas, even floating ships, and you weave past missiles and their bullets while firing your own lasers, bullets, not-funnels (laser drones that chase and attack whoever you targeted), and railguns. Unlike Ace Combat, you're stuck within the mecha the character is piloting at that moment in the story, and given there's multiple characters you'll be going from the super-duper prototypes to regular mechas. But the overall take away should be; Is it fun? For the price and what it offers, it is fun if you enjoy this kind of stuff. The controls can be floaty at times and some levels and abilities are not made equal, but for an afternoon playable anime-romp it's not too bad. And if you really want to play more of this, there is an Endless-like mode akin to Project Wingman's Conquest mode, where the longer you survive the more money you get to buy the mechs you saw in the campaign, which include the ultra-rare-one-of-a-kind-mega trial mechas.

I am considering giving this game a thumbs down, with the game controls like you are on an ice rink with blades coated grease, and even after finishing the game, I still find myself wrestling with the controls just trying to get my battle frame pointing at the direction i want. It's the story though, that really won me over. You can tell how this game very much wear it's inspiration on it's sleeve; this game is like a good Gundam fan-fiction. You get multiple perspective from both sides of the war, while some aren't fully fleshed, I still managed to get attached to the character I play as, and feel for the character motivation. Now were they well written characters, or story? That's debatable honestly, but I can feel the passion and the writer's love for the mecha war genre. But the again, whether you want this game is really depends if you are willing to put up with the control. If you can look past that, then you will be treated with a really decently written Gundam fanfiction from someone who is passionate about that genre.
