Dec. 2024
I've been playing this since day 1 of Early Access and I have to say what the team have done so far is absolutely phenomenal. All the planets in the Solar System are there already and Earth has a massive amount of stations that you can use and interact with. The ships and other vehicles drive and handle really well, there's plenty of stuff to do in side missions. Once you get to grips with the flight controls flying becomes a dream and is really fun and there is absolutely loads to look at and explore. The whole Solar System, in fact! Space Stations around every planet, the Moon too. You can even land on all the Planets in the Solar System that we are currently able to land on 'in real life' and explore the whole surface, should you wish to... The team are very active on their Discord channel. Feels like you're chatting to friends and they respond pretty quickly to any suggestions, bug reports and server support. Plenty of updates are coming through at the moment and I'm sure they still will for the foreseeable future... Which brings me to the last point I wanted to make...It's an Early Access game so there are still lots of things to do at the moment. You 'will' come across bugs but I haven't come across anything 'game breaking' so far and they have all been minor gripes which the team are all over if you put a bug report in, and, unfortunately there is currently no controller support at the moment 'in game' but I've easily remapped an Xbox controller which works really well for the time being so please don't be put off by this. The team have assured that controller support is on the road map...I also need to make the point that I've got, at the time of writing this review, 136 hours in and I HAVE NOT HAD ONE SINGLE CRASH WHATSOEVER both online and offline. In closing what the team have done with this, so early on in Early Access is amazing. They genuinely love the game and deserve the support. If you are on the fence about this, please give it a go, especially if you're into space, flying, exploring...It can be what you want it to be. You can find plenty of stuff to go into battle with, loads of side missions, even now, or you can just whizz around the Solar System in your ship and explore, if that's what takes your fancy...Anything you want. There's no grind to get your first spaceship, you 'aquire' it from a side mission so you're not tethered to Earth for too long if you want to get out there and explore. I've started 2 playthroughs now, 1 online and 1 offline and had my ship by the end of the first night play on both. I need to mention the flying and space gameplay for a moment - You can jump in your ship at a station and take off, literally just point up and fly into space, all in real time. Once you get up there, out of the atmosphere, you can warp to anywhere there is a station and bring your ship in to land...No cutscenes, no warp effect, you can actually watch out of your ship while warping and see the planets you are passing. It is a great sight to see while you are travelling and something that so many 'other' games don't do well and just go with the generic 'hyperpace' cutscene. I honestly think that if they implemented a 'Fast Travel' system, I probably would never use it, it's that much fun!!! All in all, this is a great game, even now in it's current state of EA. They are a small French team of developers, who love what they're doing, very supportive on their Discord channel and are currently pushing out plenty of updates. Please give it a go, I'm sure you won't be disappointed...This will be on my desktop for a long time! Enjoy...

This game is starting off really well considering it is still in very early access. Yes, there are bugs and some jank, but the developers are working hard to add more content and fix issues. There are still limited things to do in the game, but they are working on adding more features. For example, in the past 24 hours since I posted this, they added the first phase of base building. Another thing I want to mention is about the developers themselves. They have had exceptional communication with the community on Discord and even popped into my server and had a little chat ( Looking at you Benja :) ). They have been listening to player feedback and sometimes acting on it when reasonable. They have also been very transparent with the community thus far. This is something that is rare to see in today’s gaming industry. Even if the game is in a very early stage with loads of bugs and issues, if the dev team has this amount of interaction with the community, they have won my vote. I understand if you do not want to get this game yet and wait until a later date. Many of us have been burned by early access games that let us down, but I believe this will not be one of them, and I’m more than happy to support them. Supporting them will mean they have more funding to develop this game faster and better, maybe even hiring more staff, etc.

If you enjoy exploration games and really don't mind the issues that come with an early access game by a small dev team then I would absolutely give this game a shot! It feels like star citizen at points, with the interactivity of ships (the ship has a back door you can enter and walk inside the ship!) and the bugs lol For those that wanted a game similar to star citizen or elite dangerous but where you can control who you play with, alone or on your on dedicated server, you can! If you don't care for that, there are official servers with a 50 player limit as well, but be warned PvP is allowed there! Currently there isn't a huge amount of content, but in just the few days since EA release they've already had a couple of patches so progress shouldn't be too slow if that is any indicator. Check out the demo to see if it is for you and help the devs get this project going with some funding! To purchase the game now is to say "I want to help get this game made" don't think about it as "I'm buying a polished and full experience" or you will be disappointed. The devs are very active on their discord and frequently reach out to help with questions. Jump on in and help us help them make this game great!

Seamless like No Man's Sky, but not nearly as cartoony. Immersive like Elite Dangerous, but not nearly as grindy. Buggy like Star Citizen, but not nearly as expensive. Pros: [*]Great graphics, even on low presets [*]Interesting third person view mechanic: the camera is on a drone which your enemies can target and destroy, it regenerates itself after a few seconds [*]Jetpack movement is smooth and very fast, I love it [*]It truly is an open world, forget the "cells" of Starfield, you can drive/fly ANYWHERE, seamlessly [*]Already found alcohol during the first loot run 👍🏻 [*]700 years into the future, but you can still use an AK-47! [*]Enemies are creepy af, very similar to facehuggers [*]Absolutely beautiful way of travelling on earth, the Aerotrains are fantastic! They have schedules like IRL trains, so you could end up literally waiting for a train or even missing it which I find absolutely hilarious [*]The Devs themselves are very active on the servers and they try to help however they can if you have problems. They even delayed the server restart for me and my friend so we could drop off a train safely❤️ Cons: [*]Main language is Fr*nch (jk ofc) [*]Localisation (English at least) is incomplete [*]Audio seems very low, maybe that's a problem on my end? [*]Got stuck using the unstuck function, quite ironic (type "/tp spawn" into the chat if it happens to you, it will restart active missions though) [*]The flashlight, which is on the drone, behind you, sometimes gets obscured by your character [*]NPCs do not talk, they just stare into your soul, the creepy fucks [*]Mission icons and icons in general are very small on a 1920x1080 monitor and hard to see [*]Poorly optimized, it's in early access after all [*]Wonky movements and animations [*]Weapons are few and their effects are not as good as the rest of the game graphics [*]No way to report bugs directly in-game as far as I know, you have to join a Discord server, stop doing this!!! In general this game shows huge promise, it needs some polishing of course, but the basis of a great game it's already there.

I took an elevator without going through it, I delivered packages without mission bugs, I destroyed a nest infested with mobs, and I crossed the galaxy without loading. Basically, I did everything you can do in Star Citizen but without the bugs, without the questionable pricing practices and without the game requiring 12 years of development. A huge congratulations to this small team of 5 devs. Either they are geniuses or there is a real problem at CIG...
