A neat little 2D strategy game that puts you in charge of managing a fortress bristling with guns. It's like FTL but easier and less punishing - which is fine. Sometimes you want strategy without the stress. The mobile port origins are obvious. UI feels clunky on PC, no key rebinding, the usual lazy port issues. But the developers clearly gave a shit - the art direction has personality, sound design is solid, and it oozes passion in ways most indie games don't. It's not particularly challenging once you figure it out, but that's not really the point. This is comfort food strategy - familiar mechanics done competently by people who actually care about their work. Would I recommend it? Yeah. It's honest about what it is, doesn't overstay its welcome, and the developers aren't trying to squeeze every penny out of you with microtransactions or always-online bullshit. Refreshing, really.

Absolutely incredible resource management meets tower defense in REDCON. I first discovered this gem about seven years ago on mobile, and it immediately became one of my favorite games. The blend of strategy, resource management, and tactical gameplay was so engaging that I purchased the full version back then and never regretted it. When I saw that it had made its way to Steam, I couldn't resist grabbing it again and I’m so glad I did. For such a modest price, this game is an absolute steal. Whether you're new to REDCON or revisiting it like I am, the gameplay remains just as addictive and rewarding. If you're a fan of games that challenge your strategic thinking while offering satisfying combat mechanics.

It really is just a more streamlined FTL, but if it instead took place in the setting of the short animated film "Cannon Fodder" (from Memories, 1995). And it's a good, relatively fresh choice of setting. REDCON is a great little strategy game that's quick and easy to get into, but has sufficient mechanical depth/breadth to make for some good tactical variety, be it in how you build your forts, or the enemies you encounter over the course of the linear campaign. Elements of your fort carry over between battles, and while REDCON isn't truly a roguelite, it does have some roguelite elements and long-term planning. Overall the difficulty is quite manageable, and I also adore the soundtrack and artstyle of the game. Despite REDCON's age, it also still gets minor updates.

Shooting big shells out of big guns who doesn't love that? Old but very fun and can be somewhat tense. They added mission selector. Good Game.
