Repair this! is a small-scale but surprisingly thoughtful simulation game that transforms the everyday act of fixing smartphones into a layered experience about work, responsibility, and moral choice. Developed and published by HGISoft, the game initially presents itself as a light business simulator, but gradually reveals a narrative-driven core that encourages players to reflect on how seemingly minor decisions can ripple outward into much larger consequences. Its strength lies in how it elevates a mundane profession into something personal, ethical, and quietly engaging. The foundation of the game is the operation of a modest phone repair shop in a living, reactive city. Each day, customers arrive with broken devices that need diagnosis, part replacement, and timely service. The mechanical process of repair is intentionally simple, focusing on selecting correct components, managing limited inventory, and fulfilling orders efficiently. Alongside this, players must keep an eye on finances, paying rent and utilities while balancing profits against the cost of replacement parts. This creates a steady rhythm of daily work that feels believable and grounded, reinforcing the sense of running a real small business rather than a purely abstract management system. What distinguishes Repair this! from other job simulators is how deeply it integrates narrative choice into its core loop. Phones are not just broken objects; they are containers for fragments of people’s lives. As you repair devices, you gain access to personal data such as messages, photos, and files, and the game frequently presents opportunities to act on this information. These moments introduce ethical dilemmas that are rarely framed in simple terms. Some choices appear helpful or altruistic on the surface, while others tempt the player with financial gain or social leverage. The game does not always telegraph outcomes clearly, allowing consequences to emerge naturally over time and reinforcing the idea that intention does not always align with result. The cast of customers plays a crucial role in sustaining interest. Each individual feels distinct, with their own personalities, concerns, and narrative threads that gradually unfold across multiple visits. Some stories remain small and personal, while others connect to broader events shaping the city itself. This structure makes the shop feel like a social hub rather than a conveyor belt of anonymous transactions. Random events and branching interactions further enhance replay value, as different choices lead to different relationships, city conditions, and ultimately different endings. Visually, the game adopts a clean 2D cartoon style that prioritizes clarity and approachability. Character designs are expressive enough to convey emotion without excessive detail, and the interface is functional, keeping the focus on decision-making rather than visual spectacle. The presentation is modest but cohesive, reinforcing the game’s slice-of-life tone. Sound design and music are understated, providing a calm backdrop that suits the routine of shop work while allowing narrative moments to stand out without distraction. The pacing of Repair this! is deliberately compact. A single playthrough can be completed in a relatively short amount of time, which may surprise players expecting a long-form simulation. However, the branching narrative structure encourages multiple runs, as different decisions can significantly alter both personal outcomes and the wider state of the city. While the mechanical depth of phone repairs does not dramatically expand over time, the evolving story context gives repeated playthroughs a sense of freshness and purpose. There are minor rough edges, particularly in localization and interface flow, where some dialogue phrasing or menu navigation may feel slightly awkward. These issues rarely disrupt the experience in a meaningful way, but they do highlight the game’s indie scope. Still, the clarity of its design and the sincerity of its ideas help offset these limitations. Ultimately, Repair this! succeeds by finding meaning in the ordinary. It is not a complex technical simulator, nor is it a grand narrative epic, but it blends management, storytelling, and ethical reflection into a cohesive whole. By asking players to consider what responsibility looks like in a digitally connected world, the game offers an experience that is quietly memorable and surprisingly resonant. For players who enjoy narrative-driven simulations with moral weight and a strong sense of place, it delivers far more depth than its humble premise initially suggests. Rating: 8/10

This game reminded me a lot of Papers Please. Even though they have nothing to do with each other the overall gameplay is very similar. The game itself is very easy to understand and requires only a little attention. The design of the game is well thought and the overall interactions with the clients are somewhat unique. The only downside of this game was that there is no way to keep multiple game saves as it works with only 1 save. This means that if you want to restart a specific day because of an achievement or overall bad decisions, you can't. All in all if you played Papers Please, you will most likely also enjoy this game.

The game is really addictive. So many characters referenced in movies and real life. Though after 2-3 playthroughs, you begin to note customers that you can overcharge. Takes away a bit of its charm. Devs should add endless mode by adding more randomised characters so more people can enjoy it longer
