It kind of holds up and it doesn't really have that overwhelming mechanic bloat like other old mmo's have. There's a lot of dynamic aspects to the game like Rifts and Invasions, but people rarely attend them anymore, so you'll mostly miss out on Invasion ending bosses and all that nostaliga stuff, unless you find a active guild, or in the right place and the right time. If you want to find people to play with straight out of the tutorial (and don't mind going to random zones out of story order), play the Instant Adventure activity. It's weird seeing textures slowly improve from the base game through to the final expansion. This game also supports SSAA and TAA, so you can see in real time how much a crime against humaity TAA really is.

A very neglected diamond in the rough. One of the best MMOs ever made. Features like Dimensions allow you to construct entire towns inside this game, not just decorate a home. This powerful feature that was introduced in Rift over 13 years ago, but simpler versions are just now being attempted in more popular and monetized MMOs.

This is a game. Was gonna try to joke or smthn but this really, really is the best ''classic-style'' MMORPG that I've tried in like the 15 years. Prolly not as good as WOW or FFXIV but it has that ''magic'' that even ESO lacks, in my opinion. And the best part? Class system! Ever wanted to be a fully plate-clad knight, wielding a sword and a shield, but also have a giant panther pet defending you, while ALSO casting direct streams of lightning from your hand and sword WITHOUT changing weapons and without your weapons disappearing while casting and* without it all looking awkward? Well, welcome to RIFT, then. PS! Graphics at 4K, everything at max actually looks very decent considering how old the game is (animations & vfx as well). Sound, especially sound effects during combat suprised me (I dunno imagined they'd sound much less ''punchy'' considering how old the game is). Storyline seems to be decent. ALSO UI SCALE/customization: There are specific and global settings for UI: I cranked it up almost all to the max and it works really well. No gamestopping ''tiny UI'' problems like in some other, older MMO's. Just crank it up and enjoy the adventure.

I've had this game since pre-release, and having been in and out of it since then, and playing a new character now, what I mostly have to say is ... Gamigo needs to sell to someone who will actually do something with this game, because it's AMAZING. It's REALLY GOOD. But Gamigo doesn't deserve to have it.

I loved this game when it was being actively maintained and developed, but those days are long gone. The class "soul" system was revolutionary, and I greatly enjoyed participating in public rifts with random people.
