Solid horde survivor. Feels clean. There are a lot of janky and poorly made ones. This one isn't that. It feels fluid and well-made. Very little unintuitive and confusing behind-the-scenes mechanics. With that said, here's my obligatory list of recommendations to make the game feel better and more fluid: Give us an option to remove screen shake. When you play the submachine gun class, literally every shot vibrates the screen, so once you're 10-15 minutes into a round, you're rapid firing, and the screen is just a constant earthquake. It really messes with some peoples' eyes. Make certain classes or abilities just an active visual detriment. Terrible decision there. Just let us toggle it off. Shift-clicking to sell instead of dragging and dropping each individual item is a huge QoL choice. Right now its just a chore to sell things before unlocking salvaging. There's a typo in the Range Amplification passive. It says 'Rrange.' There's also a consistent grammatical error where you use the word "in" instead of "for" in instances where you pick up a temporary buff. It will say 'Deal 50% damage in 30 seconds," where it should say "for 30 seconds." Just makes it sounds like 30 seconds after picking up the buff, it will activate. Some enemy hitboxes are messed up, giving them more range than the cones and circles say they have. The flamethrower cone is a good example. Skill categories aren't obvious. The chase, tech, psi. I get you can press tab to see which is which, but when choosing a passive from a level up where you choose a buff for a specific category, it would be useful to have some text in that passive's box that says which skills are affected. Or give everything icons. Just something that makes the gameplay more fluid instead of having to constantly use the tab screen. The boss fights are so prevalent that it feels like the waves between the bosses are entirely unimportant. Just a way to get xp and burn time. Might as well make it a boss rush game at this point with how long they take to kill. Not what the players actually want, but the game outside of the boss fights just seems arbitrary, which isn't great for a horde survival game. Also, just take out the skippable cinematic boss intros. Why make us hold to skip every time? We're not looking forward to seeing the intro for the 20th time. Just teleport the player into the boss arena. The itemization feels weird. I'm not sure if there are greater tiers as you get further into the game, or any legendary that drops from the first map is potentially a best in slot endgame item. The stats seem entirely rng, like in Diablo 4, which just feels bad, especially since you included the exact same expensive reroll system that everyone hates. If there are specific chase unique items, then thats fine. I can deal with rng legendaries in pursuit of the better gear, but if these are the endgame items, the system needs a rework. Just try to make it not Diablo 4. Nobody wants that.

7.5/10 - Has its flaws, but the potential is there. Just needs some QoL features, more content, some balancing, and further QA/bugfixing. To me, clearly one of the BETTER and rather more promising Survivor-likes. Fully recommending it for this price tag! Pros: + The Diablo-esque Loot- and Craft-mechanic fits in this genre quite well! It's very much 1:1 cloned from Diablo 4. But that's not a bad thing. I enjoy it a lot! + Not too much vFx and bullet hell; actually rather good readability of what's going on on the screen; far better than most of the others Survivors-likes. Nice Dodge-roll, too! It never felt like I was losing overview or control. Great enemy density and vFx balancing! + Nice graphics. Nothing super special, but some parts (eg. the vFx of the boss attacks) look fantastic! + Great macro balancing! There's always significant progress between two runs. Not too much, but also not too little. To me, many other Survivors-likes feel too grindy. R.I.P. gets this just right! Cons: - Balancing issues (some Techs and Synergies seem totally OP (eg. +2 bullets, casually tripling your weapon damage and its procs), while a whole item/skill category (Throw/Grenades) feels just totally underpowered) - many UX bugs when playing with a controller. Some are minor. Some require you to use the mouse to continue playing. But one issue is particularly annoying: If you just pressed Dash before you Level Up, the Ban-Function is pre-selected when picking a Tech/Skill. Too many times did I BAN a Tech instead of picking it. Several runs were severely impacted. - some UI bugs overall. The game summary screen shows the Damage Sources, which of course is very important. But (at least in the English translation), in some cases it is not clear, what the name of the Damage Source relates to (which skill/perk/weapon). - some QoL features are severly missing (eg. the possibility to view the picked Techs, the inventory, or the stats when deciding between choices, esp. during the Level Up / Tech Up.. what Chase-Techs do I still have, again? How many Movement Speed Bonus? I need those stats to make my decisions. It's a lot of unneccesary "remember or regret", right now.) - aiming with grenades and some of the special skills is a pure hazzle when using the controller! The crosshair movement nearly renders it impossible to utilize some of the Techs. - Skill Tree serves the same mechanics as the items. Neither unique perks nor exciting synergies result from the Skill Tree, which feels rather bland. @Other Reviewers: Shame on you for voting down the whole game, just because the German translation is not complete on day 1 (just change it to English!??), or because the game is yet partially lacking balancing or content (it's still early access. and it's not too bad or too empty for an Early Access title. It's just about right.). tbh I'm not sure why Survivors-lGamers are so merciless, today. This is not another bad clone. And neither is it too expensive. Refund the game. Get some ice cream. Maybe even cry. But don't spread misinformation that this is just another bland Survivors-clone. (Also, if you really think there are "SO many way better Survivors-likes out there".. feel free to share them in the comments, please! :D)

As a survivor horde-survival game, the combat feels really satisfying. The game is well-designed in all aspects with great visual effects. However, in the late game, the screen-full effects tend to block the skill range indicators of elite mobs and bosses. Here's a small suggestion: we hope the developers can add a toggle to reduce effect density, allowing players to switch freely.

First impression is it has incredible potential. I can name a few things I don't like but I wouldn't downrate the game because of them. Bugs are frustrating in any game, however, downrating this game due to any bugs two hours after Early Access launch is just ridiculous. If there were some genuine takeaways I could understand but not things like a bug caused your death in a game where you are supposed to die often as part of the experience. Rate how the overall game makes you feel. Rate the gameplay, progression systems, enemies, mechanics, the flow of each match. It just doesn't give a potential game a deserving chance when players do things like that. If I didn't want to finish Escape from Ever After so bad right now I would keep playing. You can only progress so far in two hours to really give anything other than a first impression. I only have maybe an hour in so other than an hour of experience I can't provide much of an opinion other than the initial adrenaline you feel from playing this game. I would like to revisit this review once I have a chance to spend more time in the game. Seeing the red thumbs just made me wanna add a thumbs up for now.

Only 82 minutes in but it's scratching that Survivors genre itch quite well. Adding a Diablo style loot system raises the player incentive even further. I can definitely feel the addictive quality here. I'm sure it will only improve over time.
