Its Roboquest, but in VR! They made VR two hand reloading, VR Bow arrow knocking and release. VR based throwing weapons. You can two hand weapons, and the heavy ones have appropriate handles for it. Co-op works and is great. Only downside is that you can't play VR with someone who is on the normal version of the game ... and I have a friend who loves Roboquest but doesn't have a headset.
It was fun up until Meta Horizon Link shat out >:( god I can't wait for the steam frame to come out. That aside it's in my top 5 VR games, movement and gunplay is super smooth, just wish there were other options for holsters. Much prefer having pistols on my hips rather than reaching for it like a primary weapon.
I haven't had a ton of time to play, but I really enjoy this game so far. I haven't played the flatscreen version, so I can't speak to how faithful of a port it is -- but it feels like a native VR title with plenty of polish. I appreciate the option to choose between manual reloading and auto. I enjoy manual reloading in most VR FPS games, but this one does feel better to me keeping the pace up and letting it reload quickly. It's more about movement and continuing to shoot everything. My only complaint is that the weapons have some amount of either weight simulation or motion smoothing applied that slows all of my aiming. This game seems like too much of a fast-paced shooter for that, and I would very much prefer the option to disable this and have aiming mapped direct to motion controls with no smoothing or delay applied. That being said, this is a personal preference, and it's not sluggish enough to kill my enjoyment, so still a positive recommendation for me.
A Near Perfect VR Port of a Flat Fast-Action Bullet-Hell Rogue-Lite I never played the original Flat version of the game, so I can only review it as a VR game. This game is quite exhilarating and hard! It really makes you move your ass! The game is a fast paced shooter rogue-lite and it is VERY fun in VR! I absolutely love fast-paced games in VR and this is just that. It sort of gives me Rise of the Triad vibe in terms of gameplay (without the gore and WW2 theme). But it does have platforming and very fast-paced action. Flat2VR did a phenomenal job on this port as it is quite stable, as I did not run into any game-breaking bugs. However, there are few key areas that should be improved upon. Controls Need Improvement At first, I did not like the control scheme. Especially on Index. The grip button is used for grabbing and also activating combat modifiers (Melee, Missles, etc.). This did take some getting used to (and still have some difficulty with these, especially activating Melee). I feel the Melee should just be activating if you swing your arm. Also, the crouching and jumping on the right analog stick just does not feel right. I always move the jump to the right A button (which I did successfully), but the crouch/dash seems to activate if you are VERY specific. At times, when I try to activate it, but it doesn't, which would get me hit be gun fire. I wanted to move this control to the right Thumbpad as a button so it can be activated without hassle. Manual Reload Needs a Buff Another area of improvement is with the reloads. I feel there should be some sort of buff if you opt into the manual reload. There is no real consequence in opting into the auto reload. It just makes the game easier. You can Shoot Through Door Shields When entering a doorway, the door has a blast-shield that you really are not supposed to shoot through. Since this is VR, you can clip your hands through the shield and kill all enemies in sight before entering. Its cheap, and effective, but this obviously needs to be patched. bHaptics Support? Please? I would love to see (or feel) bHaptics support for this game. It would definitely aid in the combat ( feeling what direction you are getting hit) and also just for pure immersion. This game would be perfect for this. Overall I absolutely love this game. Every run I do, I get further and further in the campaign. Every death, is only the beginning to the next run I do. I cannot stop playing this game. Very good job Flat2VR! You managed to make one of my favorite games in my VR library!
