I don’t want to write about the game itself, which for me is an 8/10. An excellent roguelike. What I do want to write about is something that has truly impressed me. I’m genuinely shocked (in a good way) by the game’s musical theme. I don’t even know who’s behind it, who composed it, but I’m addicted. Even when I don’t feel like starting a new run, I just launch the game to listen to the music. STUNNING. I’m not even sure Hans Zimmer could write something like this. It’s wonderful to see a video game with such an incredible musical theme.

Unfortunately the breadth of the game far exceeds its depth. The inventory management and seal systems are interesting and have a lot of potential, but are severely hampered by the game mechanics that simplify the game AFTER you get severely destroyed multiple times. First of all, it's a roguelite, so the difficulty curve of the game is immediately ♥♥♥♥♥♥. The game does not have the roguelite tag, and I treated the game as a roguelike for half of my playtime, before talking to the NPC that gives meta progression. I was initially struggling, barely making it to the first boss before dying, and immediately after buying a few upgrades, I now have beaten half of the game's available difficulties. The game doesn't have a learning curve, but a grinding curve, and the curve is however much you want to grind for meta progression. Even in runs themselves, the difficulty and balance aren't thought out well. Half of the roster lacks any AOE whatsoever, so building momentum early relies on you getting lucky with random loot. The coin girl especially is NOT balanced at all. She builds around making money, and using it as ammunition, but the amount she earns is far, FAR more than what it costs for her to fire, so in the end, you do hundreds of thousands of damage. She should cost either a percentage of her current gold to fire, or triple her current costs. The management aspect of the game is also dumbed down by wrenches, which can convert an item's links into any shape you want for a pittance. They are dirt cheap at the beginning, and with any amount of starting money, you can buy 4-5 of them and never worry again. My favorite run was the one where I used the Light element, which has items that benefit from being near other light items, and it was fun because I actually had to organise my gear. For every other run, the setup usually ends up being a long singular chain. There is also the seal system, which gives you a buff if you configure your inventory in specific ways, but the buffs it offer are small enough that you don't really need to interact with it, and even if you do, doesn't take much thought. Although it isn't the deep, autism experience that other reviews are treating it as, SealChain is still a very fun game, with good build variety and four very unique characters that change fundamental mechanics in different ways. The character designs are good, and the gameplay loop is still solid.

Interesting game. I would say it fits perfectly in to the price range. There are some translation problems and some UI clunkiness. Chain building is kind of tricky to grasp. You should not combine skills left and right. The MP% ramps up quick. Sometimes just getting a simple rank1 item with bonus stat like fork projectile count is better then rank 6-7 of the same item

A very interesting game with lots of content; I've been waiting for it since the playtest. It's only gotten better! There's still room for improvement, but it's already playable! The mechanics are cool, but you have to endure the early stages because there's a steep learning curve, and it'll be challenging without it. I recommend it to anyone who enjoys this genre!
