Played on occulus rift S So, the game was on a massive sale, 80%, and it had decent reviews so sure, i'll pick that up. At first i'm not impressed. It plays like a substandard, tanky FPS, but hey, atleast it looks great right? A bit into the game i realise that it's not just a substandard FPS, it's a survival game, crafting, getting materials, all that stuff. That made the game so much better. So yeah, i reccomend it. For what it is, it's fun. And that freaky dog thing in a cave early on? still the scariest thing i've seen in VR.

So, first off let me say this. The trailer is extremely misleading. There's no lush forests in the beginning of the game, it's much less lush and more rugged and rocky. The red vines you see curling up around the tree end up being inside of a cave system later in the game. The slow time system never happens. The boss fights do though. The MP is there. There are some fun climbing and puzzle-ish moments. But the trailer is misleading. I finished the game on Master Mode. It was touted as being able to customize my guns. It seems that meant that I could upgrade them at the equipment station. I'm OK with that. There was also no swiping across my view to pull up turret deployment. That would be convenient. Instead there's a construction menu you have to go through. The big beasts you see, you only fight them later on. They never assault your base. However, other beasts (and humans) do. And when they do it's like seeing fireworks everywhere if you've got all the turret types deployed. I'm leaving a positive review because this game feels like Subnautica minus the water. You're on an alien planet that has a living ecosystem. There are creatures that live in different biomes, they do different things, they have different lives. When you get different materials, you can build different things ranging from armor to weapon upgrades to different drinks that can boost shields or make you invincible for a short period of time. There's also a hostile human faction which adds some gunplay into the mix which is welcomed so it's not just fauna that you're fighting. The ancient alien areas that you go through end up being some of the more interesting parts. However, they're short. They're like little puzzles or timing your walking since you can't jump. There's quite a few guns, so you can find one that fits your style and works well against your particular obstacle. I would say if you have a friend to play with, pick this up, it's worth it.

Sheesh, where do I begin? This game is fuckin nuts for an indie game. Looks gorgeous, and Im not saying that lightly, these guys really took their time. The environments have alot of detail (bugs, wiggly plants etc) and the art style is on point (for my tastes). Lots of realism, no goofy, cartoon-like aspects. The places Ive been so far remind me of Metroid Prime or Halo. The gameplay, so far, has been quite good. The pistol feels good and aims well, the HUD looks pretty great with the helmet on (and you can see your forearms, which REALLY pulls you in) and the menus and the GUI flow well and dont feel bloated. Im sure theres more interactive elements, but I've found vines you can cling to and climb across gaps. There are missions so far, but idk how long that will last, as this is a Rust/ARK kind of survival game. The only downside I've found so far, is that this game might be too much for some PCs. My rig isn't shabby (1080/7700k), but it still gets rocket hot in some of the huge open rooms (83 celsius, on the low setting). This is only a temporary downside, and frankly, a good one to have because this game puts those resources to good use. Overall first impression: Looks very promising, and is refreshing to say the least (after wading through a sea of low effort, cartoony VR games).

Do not be confused by the tag, this game is an alien sightseeing game!!!In fact,it is a sightseeing game combines survival and shooting elements. You can walk on the planet enjoy the lovely scenery and shoot monsters or slap down a bunch of turrets at the same time.Well, the illusion all caused by its perfect visuals. Seeking Dawn sets a milestone for VR games. It's a fresh attempt at a VR game with a long campaign and a multiplayer mode. It's an amazing piece of work, in terms of images, content and details. When I was on the ship and saw the mech, there comes the BGM 《Pacific Rim》 around my brain. But after I got all psyched up to get into the Mech and pilot it, it came as a depressing realization that I can't use it.Mech armor plz!!! And I want to ask the devs, why not let us start the game with a gun? I mean even at the menu screen. Before I actually started playing, I already wanted to shoot that 7ucking monster in the beginning. Overall the game is worth buying. The gameplay can be a bit tedious, but it definitely has promise as a franchise. There's a lot of room for improvement. I'm look forward to content in the free DLC. If you're interested in VR games and are looking for a great title, don't hesitate. This is what you want. Note: Do not use SteamVR Beta to play the game, which causes a bug in the beginning. Go to the Steam VR properties and turn off the Beta option, and disable the desktop game theather too, since that just closes the game when you try to start it. Also, I ran into an issue where I couldn't open my backpack during the tutorial. I had to restart the game, then it was fine.

Not quite sure why this game has gathered such bad karma on the steam forums. I took a chance on it and it's quite polished and fun. Thank you to the devs for supplying a complete game. Too much VR software is early access. It deserves your money.
