My Third Yuzusoft Visual Novel After Café Stella and Riddle Joker, Senren＊Banka was my third Yuzusoft visual novel, and I really enjoyed it. I really liked the setting and atmosphere of this game. The traditional Japanese village, the characters, the romance, comedy, and supernatural parts all gave it a really nice feeling while playing. I also really liked the visual presentation. The UI looks really nice and everything feels smooth while reading. Just like Café Stella and Riddle Joker, I really enjoyed how easy it was to follow the dialogue and voice presentation. It's a small thing, but I really like this style of visual novel presentation. The characters were once again my favorite part. I played through all the routes for Yoshino, Mako, Murasame, Lena, Roka, and Koharu. I enjoyed getting to know each of them and seeing their own stories and relationships with the protagonist. I also liked seeing everyone together in the common story. There were plenty of funny moments, and I enjoyed the interactions between the characters before going into their individual routes. The one thing I wish was different is that I wanted more time with Roka and Koharu. I really liked both of their characters, but their routes were shorter than the main routes. I finished them and just felt like I wanted more. I would have loved to spend more time with them and see more of their stories and interactions. It gave me the same feeling I had with Suzune in Café Stella and Chisaki in Riddle Joker. I really liked those characters too, so I always end up wishing the shorter routes were longer. I guess that's a good problem to have when you like the characters that much. 😭 Overall, I had a really good time with Senren＊Banka. I enjoyed the characters, routes, comedy, romance, atmosphere, and visual presentation. Café Stella was my first Yuzusoft VN, Riddle Joker was my second, and Senren＊Banka was my third. After enjoying all three, I'm really glad I decided to keep playing Yuzusoft's visual novels. Each one has its own setting and characters that I enjoyed, and Senren＊Banka was another one I was really happy to play. Definitely glad I played it. ❤️
This game was so good that even a person who usually plays games in "unofficial" ways like me had to buy it at full price without even waiting for a sale. I've been playing this game since 2024 (not to mention the time I spent on it before officially buying it), and it's the only game I've also wanted to install on my phone (both Android and iOS, Yuzusoft please make an official mobile version and I will buy it right away). I don't usually play or enjoy Visual Novels, but this game is an exception. The story, the character designs, the music, the art style, and almost everything else left a really strong impression on me, making me want to play it over and over again whenever I have free time. I particularly love Murasame's route, and despite not being a big fan of the H-scenes, the overall story is fantastic compared to other routes which I personally didn't enjoy as much. I'm perfectly satisfied just playing her route. Many people say the common route is too long, but I personally don't mind. It gave me enough time to understand the situation happening in Hoori, making me want to save the town and accompany the characters to solve their problems, without rushing straight into the "spicy things" which I don't really like. I prefer understanding the scenario and the overall story before getting to that part. In fact, I personally wish the common route was longer. It actually felt a bit short to me, especially after the characters finally discovered how to save the town. Aside from that, the only other thing that I dislike (and almost hate) is the overused "spicy" jokes made by some characters (even Murasame sometimes joked about this!), while in reality, the situations were just completely normal things being misunderstood by the others. It might be funny the first few times, but it got boring quickly the more I heard them, and eventually, I just got fed up with it. In conclusion, this is a great game and I want to play it more. It's not perfect, and I've heard some games - even from Yuzusoft themselves - are better than this one, but this is currently the only one I've played so I can't compare. Maybe I will try their other games in the future. And lastly, Murasame best girl. It was love at first sight from the moment we met.
My second ever Yuzusoft title and it did not dissapoint. A really cozy game with great CGDCT-esque character interactions and comedy. The setting is historic Japanese village so most outfits and designs have that traditional Japanese theme, and I found the ost to match really well too. Comedy wise a little funnier than the other title I've played (Sanoba Witch), mostly due to the other heroines not being sidelined as much and having a decent amount of character interactions (well, for most routes at least). The common route itself is funny but I didn't find the main overarching plot to be that interesting. The real pull of the game were the heroines, as I found all of the main heroines' routes to be cute or emotional in their own way. Of course the plot itself is still serviceable and some routes that focus more on the plot were honestly pretty interesting too. The pacing is okay. Some parts of the heroine routes may drag out a little but I didn't think the routes themselves were too badly paced. It really is a turn-off-your-brain kind of visual novel you play to follow a simple story and see some cute moments. The quality is again a standout for Yuzusoft titles. This game has a flowchart menu which I hadn't encountered before but now find very hard to live without. That and the multitude of other QoL hotkeys made it difficult for me to get used to playing other visual novels without those features. Also, Mako and Murasame are both best girl (can't decide who's better).
Rating for these characters and their routes (excluding Bonus Routes): Mako = A + B Yoshino = B + B Lena = A + S Murasame = S + S The routes this game offers are very wholesome but I think my best one yet was Murasame's route so you should read her last if you want to finish this visual novel with her. Lena's route features extensive lore building about the Hoori and the Curse so you can go to her route if you want to learn more about the lore. A big plus to recommend this game to you especially if you're new to visual novels!
