Serious Sam 3 - where you stand all alone as the last human alive on the face of planet Earth that has not been slaughtered by the monsters, and you must go back in time to stop it from happening and save humanity and the world and the entire Universe from the monsters, all the while the greatest soundtrack ever composed in the history of the world encourages and motivates you onward and upward to glorious victory . . . easily my second favorite video game of all time!!!! -Monster Slayer
Well it’s not bad in fact I would say it’s one of the best games made kids. Straight forward objectives shoot and kill secrets to find consol with kids and a badass protagonist but for a Serious Sam game it’s a massive step down. In BFE they added executions that are pointless they don’t give you health iframes etc. They are just there. Weapons are much less fun to use most of them that is (RPG Minigun and Double Barrel Shotgun is still amazing). For some unholy reason they thought it would be such a great idea to add reload to boomer shooter with sprint that cancel reload. About sprint there is no auto sprint so no more shooting things fast and deadly only fast. Level design is boring early games got away with it cause they were much shorter but here it just doesn’t work. If you liked previous games this one only on sale 5.5/10 will probably never play again (maybe dlc).
When Serious Sam 3: BFE launched, a lot of people criticized it for being too slow, and many felt that aiming down sights and reloading had no place in a Serious Sam game. Personally, I think Serious Sam 3 strikes a great balance between modern FPS mechanics and the classic Serious Sam formula. That said, the game isn’t without its flaws. The biggest issue is the long stretch of interior levels, especially at the beginning of the campaign. These sections are slow, Sam’s movement feels sluggish, and they don’t capture the fast paced spirit that defines the series. They feel completely out of place compared to the outdoor levels. Once the game opens up, however, it becomes fantastic. Every outdoor level is brilliant and feels like a true evolution of the classic Serious Sam formula, delivering massive battlefields, huge enemy hordes, and nonstop action. The reloading mechanic is another minor downside, but the reload animations are so quick that they rarely become a problem during combat. The Jewel of the Nile DLC may be short, but it’s just as enjoyable as the main campaign, offering more of the intense action the series is known for. Serious Sam 3: BFE is a flawed, underrated gem that deserves far more appreciation than it receives. Without the slow opening, the lengthy interior sections, and the unnecessary reloading mechanic, it could have been a true masterpiece like TFE. Even so, I never disliked it the way many players did. It’s still an excellent Serious Sam game, and I highly recommend it to both longtime fans of the series and newcomers looking for a modern take on the classic old school shooter formula. 7/10
