if Metroid had a baby with Uncharted, then had an affair with Megaman, you'll spawn something like this love triangle. don't play this game if you're a boring person 'cause it's SUPER fun. the gameplay loop in this game is as awesome now as it was in 2009. hell yeah, suckas! going for 💯 but not likely.
After playing this incredibly underrated metroidvania 3 different times? I'll have to strongly recomend this metroidvania to everyone who enjoys the genre. Its got plenty of tutorial stages that could easily help out novices if they wanted to start this genre with SCR. It was recommended to me years ago though i forgot who suggested me to try this out unfortunately. Though Jason Fleming is a badass protagonist ngl. Kinda wished I got to play this game sooner. Shame that Lucius himself wasn't a boss you can fight. 10/10 Recently found out that SC was actually going to have a sequel and it was in development until Epic Games shelfed it for Fortnite and other such slop. seriously Epic Games bring Shadow Complex back to life with that sequel!
Pure nostalgia bait for me right here. I bought it the day it released on Xbox arcade and beat it a few days later. Released at a time when I was obsessed with Gears of War and would buy any Unreal engine game, even Blacksite:Area 51 which I actually enjoyed. I wasn't into side scrollers or metrovania style games but this turned me into a fan and after I beat it was buying up any similar game I could find on the arcade store. This still is my favorite and most memorable of those games at the time. This version still holds up well and I can barely fault it for anything other than some finicky controls and some tough platform sections at the end of the game. Apparently it is not more popular on Steam as it never goes on sale but it is well worth the price, especially considering it is a remaster. I recommend using the "Vibrant" graphics mode or it otherwise looks washed out, as was the trend at the time. Devs used to think nearly black and white games looked realistic. I highly recommend the game; nice graphics, fun gameplay, lengthy campaign, a decent story with cut scenes and a reason to want to progress (they stole my girl!), satisfying power ups making the game better the longer you play, and a new game plus mode once you beat it. 9/10.
