Shadow Warrior 2 took a step back from the Shadow Warrior series becoming a looter shooter for no reason and Shadow Warrior 3 took it back. This is what you should be expecting from a Shadow Warrior game, a linear FPS with some fun weapons and raunchy humor. I was hesitant to get this because the reviews were even worse than 2 which I did not like but it's a return to form. This is basically what Shadow Warrior 2 should have been. The game is rather short at just about 5 hours to complete so grab it on sale but it's definitely a lot of fun. I just wish the katana combat was more focused like it was in the original.

The story may be short but this game is a lot of fun. Also they added a survival mode you can play after you beat the game to keep things interesting. That being said I did get the game on sale for about half off so if you can wait but still a fun over the top shooter game. Lot of doom influence that actually shines in the shadow warrior universe.

Shadow Warrior 3 is the third installation of the Shadow Warrior trilogy. Unfortunately, it was also the weakest child of the family. While I mostly enjoyed it, there are several issues that just brings the game down a grade. There are some bugs that are quite annoying, unlimited waves of enemies until I had to reload the checkpoint, some wall clipping issues, issues that didn't even exist in Shadow Warrior 1 and 2. The story was really short as well. Nonetheless, this game is action-packed and I love the gore that fills my whole screen up. I love the weapon choices and upgrades, they complement the game really well. I got this game heavily discounted so I got my worth out of it. I would recommend this game if you are looking for some mindless fun, although it was only satisfactory because we had such banger games in Shadow Warrior 1 and 2.

Turn off the dialogue and skip all the cutscenes for the optimal experience. Trust me, the only thing you'll miss out on is some dated Marvel-esque dialogue. Yeah, sounds great, right? As for the game itself, it is by no means a must-play, but it's a fairly entertaining Doom Eternal-style shooter, albeit way too short and a significant downgrade when compared to the previous two. While I am relieved that it isn't a semi-open-world looter-shooter like Shadow Warrior 2, I'm disappointed by the small arsenal and overly-linear level design--the latter contributing to the game's anemic length. The melee has also been gutted; the combo system is gone, and the katana is no longer a separate weapon, instead being reduced to a quick attack. It's no longer an essential part of your arsenal, and I only used it for the achievements and then let it sit in my inventory for the rest of the game. The gunplay, on the other hand, is delightfully punchy and is bolstered by the meaty sound design and over-the-top gore. This could've easily been the best entry in the series if they had nailed the level design and narrative tone. Still, I do recommend it, and you'll probably enjoy it more if you haven't played the other games. So, pick it up on a deep sale, play through it in an afternoon, and then never think about it again. That's what I did, anyway.
