At first glance I thought this game was just a meme but no, good efforts and clever game design and mechanics were put into it. For example, the lack of features like no in-game chat is a deliberate choice for more immersive and dynamic social experience, and also perhaps for more ARG-ish(?) elements (if that’s the right word) because it encourages social participation through Discord or Steam forums for cooperation, sharing the locations of current snails, surprising and unexpected encounters with other snails, finding friends, etc.. The achievement names and descriptions also may give the impression that the game is more of a silly meme than a game, but I feel that it is cathartic emotional/intellectual outburst that is sublimation of the dev himself and it's funny in a good way. Exploring locations and finding hats are basically all there is to it, but they can be achieved much more easily with other snail buddies because you only get speed buffs with more snails and there are no debuffs. This is clearly a clever design to facilitate positive social experiences by encouraging players to gather together. There are no negative possible outcomes when other snails are around, except maybe unintentional trickery known as "ghosting" can happen to make other snails to wait for ghosts and left behind while confused. But even that's not harmful and only leads to funny moments. This game is a true prosocial experience with no possibility of toxic competitiveness or blaming others for failure. Simply existing can still help other players. This mere existence alone having a significant value perfectly aligns with the natural snail (human) rights in terms of religious and philosophical contexts. This feels like true purpose of a video game where everyone can relax and have fun together. And I never expected to deduce such meaningful interpretations from a small indie game. Surprisingly I got more enjoyment out of it than from big budget triple A games in recent years. For the wholesome experience you should take advantage of events and hunt for achievements and hats with a massive crowd of snails for super-fast speed. During events, join Snev's stream for guidance. The snail dev bro aka SNEV has very calm voice (my prejudiced mind expected him to sound like a mad scientist, but he is actually a very down-to-earth and kind person, and wants to help all of his players). I only wish the game had more players on average. If this game was released on consoles one day and becomes cross-platform, then the snail world would be much more lively.

Well hello my snailers, my snail enjoyers, my slow-pokes, my sneighbors, my snail friends. I'm glad you are here. Snlisten close. this game is extraordinary. If you are considering enjoying being a snail I encourage you to do so. From one snail to another, this captures everything you need to live a snail happy life. You have snail parties. What more do snails want then parties? what do you want if not a snail party? the snail community is a lovely little group. There is no need for communication besides a "hello!" and a "goodbye!" its perfect. While you cannot (yet??? please.) eat leaves in this game, you can collect silly snail hats and silly snail outfits. Its not the "gameplay" that's important, its the slow journey and the snails we meet along the way. You are slow but you will find with friends you are more powerful. Theres many places to explore as a snail, you need not think of your life beyond being a snail. Theres something so happy and simple about this game, something that keeps me coming back slowly. Not everything needs to be complicated in life if you just eat the roses. This game is the embodiment of whimsy. The snails that reside in the hit game snail simulator make it the joy it is. You may not know your fellow snails name, but you share one thing in common: the journey. So adventure with me my friend, lets go for a snail stroll together and look to the trees. Lets jump to the sky together and see if we can find something. Lets bond as we meet at the snailway to sneven and begin our ascent. Lets go find our favorite snebrities that afk on the server often. I cannot guarantee this is the game for you, I cannot say it will fill your brain with chemicals like your phone does, but I can tell you it will fill your snail shaped heart. If you do not enjoy this game then I don't know what you were expecting, it's called snail simulator. This game however surpassed my expectations and I've convinced some of my friends to get it. Some people don't understand the snail lifestyle, but I encourage you to try. We as snails value community, and I can tell you, you've found it in this game. What silly fellas. I feel connected to my fellow snails, even if I haven't said a word, to know someone else is out there also enjoying a simple game is nice. We're not here to win, we're here to snail, and snail we shall. Thank you to my snail community and future snail friends for making snail life snailtastic.

originally, i got this game mostly as a joke and out of pure curiosity, since it was on a friend's wishlist and i had an urge to check it out, it was calling to me... i didn't expect that much from the game, but with every hour i put into it i became even more impressed this silly little game about being a low-poly snail has a huge interesting world to explore, cool things to find and collect, and one of the best communities i've ever seen a game have. every now and then the community bands together to help each other reach collectable stuff tens of times faster than a player would solo, and something about it makes you feel more connected with every player than any online co-op game ever has for me, without even interacting with other snails besides the choir of "hullo ^_^" truly a wonderful and peaceful and pleasant experience thank you snev for this silly little game
