So far the game is fun. Can't wait to see the new characters. The only thing I wish so far is that if you manage to clear a whole floor then you get some sorta bonus.

I have seen a few negative reviews about there not being enough content for the price, the game is still in early access and the developer has recently introduced the first content update. I have had a very enjoyable experience with the content that is out now, excellent art style and the way the first boss interacts with your game borders is super cool. I have no doubt that this game will be well worth the price as the updates continue.

this game is great, its simple, the art is amazing and its addicting. honestly for the price and to support the devs/artists go ahead and buy it and ignore the negatives. however something just doesn't quite hit the mark for me. I'm sorry if I am just pointing out issues, without providing solutions... but I just feel like I need to voice my concerns. - balance issues, keep in mind maybe I suck and I'm missing something but I don't think I am I see others expressing similar views. [*]Seems pointless to be anyone other than the knight unless you just want a challenge. [*]Magic feels useless to invest into. most enemies are physical attack until later levels. Teeth could potentially balance this by increasing the odds of landing on different squares but even then the odds of getting good teeth early on and surviving until then feel slim. also if a majority of enemies are one type, which seems to happen often, increasing the odds of landing on a different square has little to no impact. [*]I feel like characters other than the knight need something more to balance their weaknesses. for example, the warrior is cool, but missing the 1 magic point makes early makes small magic enemies early on a massive a threat so its already a hard choice to start with compared to the knight who has the same attack level and a single magic point. I think adding more health is the attempt at balance, but I have never really struggled with health of the knight. ( I die faster with the warrior anyway making sacrifices ) Seems like the idea is to use items to counter this since she has the ability to not lose them sometimes, but that seems to happen rarely and items are somewhat unreliable to obtain if you are trying to save money. in other words, as the warrior you can blow you starter items to get through some of the first magic enemies, but you usually lose them quickly and left without any help between shops. I would think rather than a chance retaining items on use, they might be able to generate an item on chance to help counter magic enemies so when your down on your luck you still have a chance. [*]I feel like teeth need more effect in play, a lot of them are minor and don't seem to pay off very much. for example, attempting a magic run, hoping to use teeth to balance out the number of physical attack enemies to magic. best you can do is just lower their attack by one most of the time or increase the odds to land on better squares, eventually if you get far enough with tough enemies lowering their attack by one wont help and it only lasts a turn so if you can't capitalize then its a fart in the wind, and if there are just more physical attack enemies (which there often are) changing the odds have little effect. [*]bosses are way to easy and both existing bosses are basically the same boss. Once you figure them out the battles are often a boring and winning is easy if you just follow a pattern. [*]items kind of feel like a waste of time sometimes unless you are desperate to stay alive and you don't care about saving money. item values seem confusing too. some high value items aren't very good compared to cheap potions and arrows which are very helpful. -some annoying bugs. I keep having a bug happen where I click a line and then a different line is selected instead. has happened in situations where its a life or death choice, and I thought I was losing my mind. Kept thinking maybe there was a enemy with a ability to mess up my choice, but was not the case as far as I can tell. Just had one happen where I was the wizard, did my special ability and selected two squares to activate, then suddenly my guy went to a completely different square and gets killed. -playing the game fast seems to bring out bugs more, you can often click things before animations complete, which feels like cool speed run tech, but then the game kind of lags out and odds things can happen like clicks not being registered or the bug above with the wrong row.

Sol Cesto is a casual game with a strong push-your-luck foundation and some light puzzle elements. Each turn you select one of four rows, after which RNG determines which of the four boxes on that row you land on. Each box by default has a 25% chance to be selected. Some boxes are inhabited by monsters (strength or magic) which lose you health (depending on your resistances), a chest that rewards gold to buy buffs and upgrades, a strawberry that heals a missing health point, or a trap which does auto-damage. After clearing some panels you can select a gem in the form of a tooth that modifies the odds of which box you land on, for example +21% improved chance of landing on strength monsters and +9% for landing on traps. The strategy is mainly to select rows more likely to win gold and less likely to do damage to you, and after that cross your fingers and pray to RNGesus. You have to clear a minimum number of boxes before moving on to the next panel. Depending on the hero you pick and some infrequent boosters that can drop you can improve your resistance to strength or magic monsters, which will effect whether picking an increased chance of landing on a strength or magic box might be worthwhile to help clear a level. There is enough nuance in the game that a reasonably competent player can more consistently complete runs. The sense that you're winning due to your own skill is partially assisted, however, by playing quick and light. If you bomb out due to RNG early you're only a few clicks away from running again, rinse and repeat, and your earlier losses are quickly forgotten. Collecting gold contributes to some meta-progression where your saved gold is used to unlock new heroes, different gems to appear in the RNG pool, and similar. On balance this is a soft thumbs up from me. In the game's favour is that it has a breezy, casual loop of click and repeat with some minor rewards to give you an endorphin rush and make you feel like a pro. Against is that stat modifiers are extremely limited, meaning that the game remains very RNG heavy even in what currently passes for the late game (eg a row might end up with modified chances of landing on each square of, perhaps, 21%/33%/21%/25%). I also have my reservations about what options might be available to mix things up and to add content from here, particularly since adding more complexity to the gameplay loop risks undermining the simplicity that is ultimately the main thing about this game that I find appealing. In the game's current state, my suggestion is to wishlist this and then check back in occasionally rather than taking the plunge at this early access stage.

It is absolutely perfect for an early access, everything you get here is functionnal, crafted with love, and already so fun to play, the mechanic is addictive and the art style by Chariospirale is amazing (and slightly reminiscent of Plastiboo's Vermis, but more cartoonish). Buy this to encourage more game from this great team !
