Short version + Gameplay - "Story" Long version (Very vague spoilers) The game itself is relatively solid in its gameplay. For the messaging however it's a very different story. Instead of letting you play the game and draw your own conclusions, the game uses an event system to force feed you the "correct" message (capitalism bad). You can play the game in the most "ethical" way ever, making sure to choose every choice where you put ethics before profit and you will still have the same story of some random former classmate hitting you up once you are the CEO of a multi-million corporation, pretty much uses you for your connections, casually asks for help in tens of millions of dollars and then at the end blames you for everything that's wrong in the world and "you lose a friend". I do not think the devs know what a friend is. A friend wouldn't guilt trip their better off "friends" into bankrolling their life and then sperging out at them for doing their job. I wouldn't even mind the anti-capitalist messaging as the game is about unregulated megacorporations exploiting the world population, but I did enjoy it much more without the spoonfed "story". Wanting to make the morally good choices, but lacking the correct resources to do so and coming across as an asshole monster or having to choose between the right thing or cutting corners to keep your balance in the green and keep your employees employed resonated much more than whatever that "story" was supposed to do. The whole game came so close to getting it's message across in just the gameplay which would have been brilliant, but then it has to stick in scripted stuff to make sure you "get it". All things considered though, the game has more than enough content to carry itself and the price tag is in proportion to that.

This is one of the few indie games which I randomly found back then while sailing the high seas. I loved the release version and I kept in my external HDD to have a run of it every couple of years. And the time to replay it has come again and I said, you know what, let's buy the game. The developer deserves it for the hours I have passed playing it. The GUI,sounds and all the technical stuff are rather basic but the theme as well as the dystopian cyberpunk mindset which oozes from every decision is SO addicting if it clicks. The game isn't a masterpiece by any means, but it provides food for thought through the game events and it gives a nice POV of how it would feel to run a Megacorp like Umbrella Corporation. A solid 7.5/10

I think I might play this game a a kind of theropy. It honestly feels just a little bit prophetic, at least in the US. The events of this game are playing out in real time 100 years early (except for AI Artists being a tier 5 tech, akin to IMMORTALITY, but who saw that coming 6 years ago). But here, I have 8 points in the "Humane" agenda tree.

Normally I wouldn't recommend, but I think if you can get it for a few dollars on sale it's worthwhile. Overall, a very interesting game concept that is technically well-implemented, but lacks a bit in the actual fun of the core gameplay loops. There are tons of options for manipulating governments, researching cyberpunk technology, controlling the media, etc., but a lot of what you are doing on each game turn is looking at marketing angles and deciding what products to launch in each country. The marketing angles aspect is an interesting mechanic, but having to do it repeatedly every turn as the primary way of making money grinds you down after a while and stopped being fun for me.
