Dec. 2025
Sick electronic album with a decent stealth platformer attached. To preface, this is not a stealth game despite the title. It's more of a puzzle platformer with stealth elements. This game has some cool ideas, but suffers mainly from its level design. First the stuff I like. The music is excellent. Sick electronic music that compliments the gameplay perfectly. Honestly, probably the only reason I went back and finished this. Need more of what this Ricky Honmong guy is doing. The game also has some pretty cool lore. There's some logs that you get for finishing the chapters that are fun to read, but there's also some environmental storytelling that was quite nice. Seeing the gore of all the clones that died before you, the ads for various in-universe products. You can even see flies flying around if you look closely. There's also messages on the walls sometimes from the mysterious individual who runs the facility which are usually pretty sardonic, but I enjoyed them. Just overall, really well thought out and smartly written. Now the bad. This game seems to revel in torturing you, like I guess that kinda makes sense in-universe with it being a clone test facility and all, but damn some of these puzzles are really tough and not in a good way. Most of the difficulty comes from the fact that the game loves to kill you by surprise, just to inflate your death count. Basically just a lot of trial and error that gets frustrating after a while. It becomes less about solving the puzzle and more about just dying over and over until the game runs out of surprise traps to kill you. Just overall not super fun to play due to how meanspirited it can be. The game also loves to introduce a bunch of mechanics and not do much with them. The last chapter in particular introduces a new mechanic for only 2 levels, then immediately forgets about it. Just weird design. The ending I'm conflicted about. The final boss was a total letdown it's just another sentinel fight and not a particularly good one either , but there's a twist that admittedly took me by surprise, but without spoiling, fits the overall atmosphere of the game. Overall, I think the presentation makes this worth playing though I hesitate to recommend it as it tends to be an exercise in futility more than anything.
