I do NOT recommend this game in its current state. The positive recommendation counts only when this game is out of early access, and I will explain why. The game is optimized poorly, system requirements show that I have more than enough to run this game without issues (it is just an animated stickman game after all), yet instead of 144 FPS it drops to 80-90, and reducing graphics to "average computer" doesn't increase it at all. Moreover, this game heats up the computer on the same level as Palworld (massive open world game with detailed graphics) which really makes no sense. I understand that despite just being Stickman, the graphics are modern but it should still have more stable FPS for a loaded level kind of game, especially for computers that should run it without issue. The next major issue with this game is bugs. It has more than a skid row tent, some even game-breaking. -In co-op, sometimes after finishing a level, 1 controller will take control of both players, making the other controller useless and needing a restart -Once after picking up the upgrade item during a level, we gained infinite upgrades and just kept upgrading like 30 moves for 2 minutes until we realized it's not ending so we had to restart -It is notoriously common for your controller to just get unrecognized when selecting moves in the gym for example if you press up or down, so you gotta spam the analog stick in whatever direction so you get back, then just use left or right so it doesn't happen again. -On the street, if 1 player dies by cops, going to the hospital will bring him back and the cops will no longer chase you, yet the star level will still remain -Many more Onto the more positive side of this game (thus the positive review). The combat system in this game is very unique and creative. You start each level with only 3 moves, and you need to unlock more as you progress the level, including upgrade those moves to some stronger ones. Another interesting thing is that you only attack on 1 button, yet you still perform different moves each time. They made this possible by you choosing many different moves to have, then you simply go from 1 to another, without exactly choosing which one goes when. It's like a card game, except each next turn is fixed. Am I a hardcore fan of that and want to see it in every next beat em up? Not really, Sifu is still the peak of martial arts beat em ups, but this game's combat mechanic makes you very engaged and teaches you not to spam your moves, but carefully time them correctly, which I do like. There are also dozens of characters with different "movesets" so it never really gets old. My major issue with the combat is that there's no block/dodge button. To avoid, all you can do is jump but it's not much of a satisfaction. A parry would also be cool to have. The "story" is also pretty funny and original, so that's another plus. Glory to capitalism
A highly addictive, physics-based, beat 'em up with lots of playstyles and moves. The gameplay is reminiscent of old stickman videos and is incredibly nostalgic. The combat is done really well and it involves many popular fighting game moves. My personal favorites are screwdriver kick, torpedo and dragon punch. The progression is steady and gives you a lot to do and experiment with. The gamemodes are incredibly different from each other and is new and refreshing with every expansion unlocked. Highly recommended! Easily one of my favorite games of all time. Can't wait to see what's next for it. 💜
